Misc.:  The Times Democrat (New Orleans, LA), Tuesday, 23 May 1905:  The Crescent, a stern wheel gasoline boat, owned by Leo and Edward Pitre of Westwego, arrived at 8 o'clock yesterday morning from Bayou Lafourche, bringing 600 sacks of potatoes and onions and sundries.  This is the fifth trip the Crescent has made in this trade and each time she has brought a full load.  She is 51 feet long by 14.5 wide, and draws three feet of water.  Her owners intended leaving yesterday, but immediately after they had unloaded a heavy rain came up which prevented them from getting away on time.  She will leave today.

Wallace Pitre:  New Orleans Item (New Orleans, LA), Wednesday, 2 November 1927:  The bodies of Wallace Pitre, 18, and Jules Michel, 24, deck hands on the Bisso Towboat "Independent," which sank in the river, April 27, were taken from the cabin which held them captive when the boat went down in forty feet of water, off Nashville avenue.  After Dr. Roeling had held an inquest, the bodies were turned over to the parents and funeral services were held at the Betz Undertaking Parlor.  Captain Eddie Pitre and C. Michael, the fathers, agreed on a double burial service.  The Poitre boy is survived by his parents, a sister, Agnes, and three brothers, Edwin, Ernest and Obin Pitre.  Raising of the boat was completed Wednesday.  Captain Wilie Bisso, of the tow boat company, said he would float the tug to Walnut street Thursday to overhaul her.  No holes had been found in the boat late Wednesday.  An examination will be conducted to determine the cause of the sinking.

Ida Pitre:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA),, Thursday, 31 March 2011:  Ida Pitre Toups passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on March 29, 2011.  She was 84 years of age and resided in Marrero, LA.  Beloved wife of Irby Toups, Sr.  Mother of Irby "Sonny" Toups, Jr. and his wife, Pam Balestra Toups.  Survivors also include Normi and Barry Donewar and their boys, Barry, Jr., Nicholas and Cameron.  Sister of the late Leola Dufour, Ray and Eddie J. Pitre, Jr.  Daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Faunce Pitre and Eddie J. Pitre, Sr.  The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to Heart of Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Friday, April 1, 2011 from 9 AM to 11 AM. Ray Roland Pitre:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Thursday, 19 June 1997:  Ray Roland Pitre Sr, 67, of Carriere, Mississippi - Ray Roland Pitre Sr., a retired electrician, died Friday at his home in Carriere, Miss.  He was 67.  Mr. Pitre was born in New Orleans and lived in Carriere.  Survivors include his wife, Lois A. Pitre of Westwego; a son, Roland R. Pitre of Slidell; and two sisters, Leola Pitre Dufour and Ida Toups, both of Marrero.  A funeral will be held at a later date.  Picayune Funeral Home in Picayune, Miss., is in charge of arrangements.
