Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 26 January 1962:  (photo) Clovis Pitre, 71, Lawtell, Expires - Clovis Joseph Pitre, 71, retired paint contractor, died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday at his home in Lawtell.  He had been ill four years.  Pitre was a native of Prairie Ronde.  His body is at Lafond and Son Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 tonight.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell at a mass.  Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Park.  Pitre is survived by his wife, the former Celemia Lafleur of Lawtell; two sons, Wallace Pitre of Opelousas and Marion Pitre of Lawtell; and two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Lagrange of Opelousas and Mrs. Clyde Walter of Lafayette.  Also surviving are one brother, Evrard Pitre of Groves, Tex.; six sisters, Mrs. Perrault Fisher, Mrs. Joseph Oliver and Mrs. Alcine Cortez of Opelousas, Mrs. Sara Pitre, Mrs. Batile Wallace and Mrs. T. S. Lafleur, all of Elton; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 29 June 1979:  (photo) Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas for Mrs. Clovis 'Slim' Pitre, the former Celima LaFleur, 84, of Lawtell, who died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Opelousas General Hospital following a brief illness.  Burial will be in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery directed by the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the old Sunset Highway in Opelousas.  A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Mrs. Pitre is survived by one son, Wallace Pitre of Lawtell; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Myrtle) Lagrange and Mrs. Clyde (Bertha) Walter, both of Opelousas; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Marion Pitre.  Mrs. Pitre was a member of the Ladies Altar Society of Lawtell and the Busy Homemakers of Opelousas, Lawtell and Eunice.

Wallace Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 29 August 1997:  Funeral services for Mr. Wallace Pitre, 83, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.  The Rev. Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services.  Mr. Pitre, a native of Opelousas and a resident of League City, Texas, died Wednesday, August 27, 1997, in Nassau Bay, Texas.  He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.  Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Clovis and Ann Pitre of Friendswood, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Emma P. and Milton Songy of Riva, Md.; two sisters, Myrtle LaGrange of Opelousas and Bertha Walter of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  Mr. Pitre was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Louise Pitre; a son, Charles G. Pitre; and a brother, Marion G. Pitre.  A wake will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Saturday until time of services.  A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.  Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

Marion George Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 12 October 1978:  Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Opelousas for Marion Pitre, 63, of Lawtell, who died at 7:15 a.m. Thursday following a six month illness.  Burial will be in the Bellevue Memorial Cemetery directed by the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Sunset Hwy.  Survivors include his wife, the former Rena Manuel of Lawtell; his mother, Mrs. Clovis Pitre of Opelousas; two sons, Danny Pitre of Opelousas and Dwayne Pitre of Lawtell; two daughters, Mrs. Hersey (Margaret) Trahan of Lawtell and Mrs. Gerald (Cinder) Boudreaux of Baton Rouge; one brother, Wallace Pitre of Lawtell; two sisters, Mrs. Alfred Lagrange and Mrs. Clyde Walters, both of Opelousas; seven grandchildren.  He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and of the Lawtell Volunteer Fire Department.  A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

 

Myrtle Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 13 November 2008:  (photo) Opelousas - Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle P. LaGrange, 91, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial, in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.  The Rev. Angelo Cremaldi will celebrate the Mass.  Music will be provided by Ms. Ann Purser and Pat LeBlanc.  The songs will be On Eagles Wings, Amazing Grace, Ave Maria, Here I Am Lord and Gift of Finest Wheat.  Mrs. LaGrange was born April 6, 1917, in Prairie Ronde; and was a resident of Opelousas.  She passed from life on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, in Doctor's Hospital of Opelousas.  Ms. Myrtle was a wonderful wife to her husband Alfred and a loving mother to her son Doyle.  Ms. Myrtle was a very wonderful and loving grandmother and was a wonderful cook.  Some of her favorite dishes that she was famous for is Crab Stew and Choupique Courtboullion.  Ms. Myrtle loved to travel with her husband and loved going with the family to fish, trolling and to fish for crabs.  She loved all of her nieces and nephews and treated them just like they were her own.  Mrs. LaGrange was a member of the Ball Masque Club, Ladies Altar Society, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.  Ms. Myrtle is going to be sadly missed by her family and many friends.  She is survived by her son, Doyle LaGrange and wife, Paula, of Opelousas; sister, Bertha Walter, of Malvern, Ark.; and her three grandchildren, Jesse LaGrange, Josh LaGrange and wife, Whitney, Gavin Ardoin; and one soon to be great-granddaughter, Lilith LaGrange.  Ms. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred LaGrange; parents Clovis and Celima LaFleur Pitre; and brothers, Wallace and Marion Pitre.  Visiting hours will be observed Thursday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.  On Friday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until the time of services.  A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening in the funeral home.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.

 

Bertha Pitre:  Malvern Daily Record (AR), 11 March 2015:  Bertha P. Walter, age 91, of Malvern passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015.  She was born September 23, 1923, in Prairie Ronde, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Clovis Joseph and Selena Lefluer Pitre.  Bertha was a beautician for 30 years in Lafayette, Louisiana.  She loved to play bingo and was of the Catholic faith.  Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Clyde Walter; brothers, Wallace Pitre and Marion Pitre and sister, Myrtle Lagrange.  Survivors, sons, Coyle Walter (Jerrie) of Hot Springs Village and Gary Walter (Carol) of Salisbury, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Rachel, Christi, Jonathan and Gillian; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Stephan and Nacia and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.  A private family service will be held at a later date.  Memorials can be made to Gentiva Hospice. Arrangements are by Regency Funeral Home.
