Obituary: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 29 August 1997: Funeral services for Mr. Wallace Pitre, 83, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services. Mr. Pitre, a native of Opelousas and a resident of League City, Texas, died Wednesday, August 27, 1997, in Nassau Bay, Texas. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Clovis and Ann Pitre of Friendswood, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Emma P. and Milton Songy of Riva, Md.; two sisters, Myrtle LaGrange of Opelousas and Bertha Walter of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Pitre was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Louise Pitre; a son, Charles G. Pitre; and a brother, Marion G. Pitre. A wake will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Saturday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pitre, a native of Lafayette and resident of Opelousas, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 1997, in Columbia East Houston Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas. Survivors include: her husband, Wallace J. Pitre of Opelousas; a son and daughter-in-law, Clovis and Ann Pitre of Friendswood, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Milton and Emma P. Songy of Riva, Md.; a former daughter-in-law, Victoria Hollon of Stafford, Texas; five grandchildren, Aimee Riegert, Milton Songy Jr., Paul G. Songy, Brannin Pitre and Lollie Pitre; three great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother, Mabel Martin and Tessie Whitmeyer. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles G. Pitre.
