Ashton Joseph Pitre:  Austin American Statesman (Austin, TX), Sunday, 24 December 2006:  (photo) Ashton Joseph Pitre, Jr., age 86, passed away Dec. 18, 2006.  He was the oldest son of Mallie and Ashton Pitre Sr. of Pasadena, Texas.  Ashton was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Aman and brother Jennings Pitre.  He is survived by sisters Mary Sawyer of Houston, Kathy Pitre and Debra McElroy of Santa Fe, NM, nieces Betty Overall of Houston and Carol Kirgan of Marble Falls and nephews David Sawyer of Houston and Mark Sawyer of Boerne.  Ashton was a native Texan, born in Sommerville.  He served proudly in the US Navy in WWII.  After graduating from the University of Texas he returned to UT where he spent his professional career working in the Communications Department, retiring from KLRN in 1982.  His later years were spent at his home in Marble Falls.  Ashton loved gardening and writing, and was a consummate friend to many.  Ashton will be loved, remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.  A private memorial service will be held when bluebonnets bloom in his beloved hill country.

Doris Marie Pitre:  Houston Chronicle (TX), Sunday, 29 January 2006:  Doris Marie Pitre Aman, age 80, of Teague, Tx passed away on January 26, 2006, in Mexia, Tx.  Mrs. Aman was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-one years, Garvis Haywood Aman of Teague, her parents Mr. & Mrs. Ashton J. Pitre, Sr., of Pasadena, her eldest son Garvis R. P. (Bob) Aman of Spring, and her brother Jennings L. Pitre of Friendswood.  She is survived by her son Stephen Aman and his wife Jamie of Seattle, WA and his children Mason Aman of Clear Lake and Faith Hawkins of Deer Park; her daughter-in-law Betty Aman and grandson Bill Aman of Spring; a brother Ashton J. Pitre, Jr. of Temple and sister Mary Pitre Sawyer of Houston and sister Kathy Pitre of Sante Fe, NM.  Funeral services for Mrs. Aman will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at 10am at the First Baptist Church in Teague.  Visitation will be held on Monday with the family present from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.  Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home.
