Obituaries for the children:

Albert Strout Peters:  Portland Press Herald (Portland, ME), Monday, 13 December 1948:  East Sebago, Dec. 12 - The body of Albert Peters, nine-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Peters, was recovered at 9 a.m. today from Fitch's millpond, where he was drowned late Saturday afternoon.  His death is the first thin ice fatality of the winter in Maine.  The boy's body, lying in six feet of water, was found by Deputy Sheriffs William Googins and Lowell Barnes after resuming a search which had lasted eight hours after he had been reported missing.  Young Peters had been skating Saturday afternoon with some other children.  He returned home for dry stockings and said he was going to have his skates sharpened.  Apparently he went out on the ice without putting on his skates, and broke through not far from shore.  His failure to return home by nightfall resulted in the search being instituted.  The two deputies saw the body lying on the bottom and breaking the ice, quickly recovered it.  Dr. Ervin A. Center of Steep Falls, county medical examiner, pronounced death due to accidental drowning.  Besides his parents, the boy leaves three sisters.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon in the North Sebago Church, the Rev. William Cole officiating.
