Obituary: The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Friday, 12 August 1921: Death of Julius Pete - Julius Peter, age 65, well known farmer of Erie township, died at his late home in that township Thursday evening. He was born in Canada December 12, 1855, and had lived in Erie for many years. Surviving are a wife and the following children: Mrs. John Grodi, of West Toledo; Mrs. Al Claire, of Toledo; Lucile, of Erie; Agnes, of Erie; Richard, of Erie; and August, of Erie. The funeral will be held at St. Joseph church, Erie, Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Rev. Father Wolfstein will officiate and burial will be made in the Catholic cemetery at Erie.
Funeral Notice: The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Saturday, 13 August 1921: Rev. Father Wolfstein, conducted the funeral services over the remains of Julius Pete, at St. Joseph church at Erie this morning. The remains were laid to rest in St. Joseph cemetery at Erie. Mr. Pete died Thursday night at his late home in Erie township. The funeral was a large one.

- Obituary: The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Tuesday, 4 February 1941: Mrs. Mary Louise Pete, aged 87 years, died at 9:20 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Mills at 524 East Elm avenue. She had been ill for seven years and had been with the daughter for the past five years. She was born October 9, 1853, in Monroetown, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sancrant. When 27 years of age she married Julius Pete of Erie. The couple lived in LaSalle for 27 years and then moved to Erie where they made their home until Mr. Pete's death in 1921. After that Mrs. Pete made her home in Monroe. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Surviving are a son Gus Pete of Toledo; four daughters, Mrs. John Grodi of Toledo, Mrs. Lucille Belkofer of Monroe, Mrs. Alfred Kane of Toledo and Mrs. Mills; two brothers, Frank Sancrant of Monroe and Joseph of Toledo; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Roberts of Toledo and Mrs. Eugene Day of Monroe; and three grandchildren. The body has been removed to the Earle Little funeral home and will be taken to the Mills home tomorrow. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

She had lived in Toledo 35 years and was a member of St. Agnes' Catholic Church. Surviving are the husband, John; a brother, Gus Pete of Toledo; and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Mills and Mrs. Frank Belkofer both of Monroe. Services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. Agnes Church.

- Obituary: The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Friday, 27 May 1932: Richard Pete, aged 44 years, of Erie, died in the Monroe Hospital Thursday afternoon from a self inflicted gunshot wound above the right temple. Mr. Pete shot himself with a revolver in the Raynor B. Pyle grocery store in the village of Erie shortly before 1 o'clock Thursday morning. The shooting took place in the presence of his wife, Mr. Pyle and Frank Lapointe of Erie. Mrs. Pete said this morning that her husband had been worried over financial difficulties. "Our home life had been pleasant, " Mrs. Pete said. Mr. Pete had operated a garage at Erie for ten years up to two weeks ago. Mrs. Pete said that for the past year her husband had not made expenses and this fact coupled with other financial reverses had worried him. Besides his wife May, he leaves a daughter, Ruth, aged 14 years, his mother, Mrs. Mary Pete of Monroe, four sisters, Mrs. Edwin Mills and Mrs. Frank Belkofer of Monroe, Mrs. John Grodi and Mrs. Al Kane of Toledo, and a brother Gust Pete of Toledo. He served in the World War, was a member of Monroe Lodge of Elks and Toledo Lodge of Odd Fellows. The body was removed to Mulholland funeral home on Cass street and will be taken to the Pete home in Erie today. He will be buried with military honors in Roselawn memorial park cemetery in LaSalle township after services at the Erie Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. John Edenburn of Erie will officiate.

She had become ill earlier while shopping at the Kroger Co. store, 202 W. Front St. Friends may call after 3 p.m. tomorrow in the Bennett Funeral Home where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday. Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home and at 9 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church where she was a member. The Rev. William Diskin will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. The daughter of Julius and Mary Louise Pete, she was born Nov. 3, 1895, in LaSalle. She was married to Frank Belkofer. Surviving are a son, Franklin Belkofer at home, and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Mills of Monroe and Mrs. Elizabeth Kane of Toledo.
