Obituary:  The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Friday, 27 May 1932:  Richard Pete, aged 44 years, of Erie, died in the Monroe Hospital Thursday afternoon from a self inflicted gunshot wound above the right temple.  Mr. Pete shot himself with a revolver in the Raynor B. Pyle grocery store in the village of Erie shortly before 1 o'clock Thursday morning.  The shooting took place in the presence of his wife, Mr. Pyle and Frank Lapointe of Erie.  Mrs. Pete said this morning that her husband had been worried over financial difficulties.  "Our home life had been pleasant, " Mrs. Pete said.  Mr. Pete had operated a garage at Erie for ten years up to two weeks ago.  Mrs. Pete said that for the past year her husband had not made expenses and this fact coupled with other financial reverses had worried him.  Besides his wife May, he leaves a daughter, Ruth, aged 14 years, his mother, Mrs. Mary Pete of Monroe, four sisters, Mrs. Edwin Mills and Mrs. Frank Belkofer of Monroe, Mrs. John Grodi and Mrs. Al Kane of Toledo, and a brother Gust Pete of Toledo.  He served in the World War, was a member of Monroe Lodge of Elks and Toledo Lodge of Odd Fellows.  The body was removed to Mulholland funeral home on Cass street and will be taken to the Pete home in Erie today.  He will be buried with military honors in Roselawn memorial park cemetery in LaSalle township after services at the Erie Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.  The Rev. John Edenburn of Erie will officiate.
