Obituary:  Grand Haven (MI), 29 November 1951 - Henry J. Pitre, 69, died at his home in Fruitport township unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon.  An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.  He had been in ill health since he was injured in an automobile crash at Plymouth, Ind., Nov. 17.  He was born in Grant Park, Ill., Dec. 28, 1881, and moved to the township in 1943.  He retired from active farming several years ago.  Besides the wife, he is survived by two sons, Bernard, with the Merchant Marines and Morgan of Fruitport township; two daughters, Mrs. Carl McCallister of Fruitport township and Mrs. Dorothy Tuner living at home; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also two step-sons, John of Grand Haven and Louis of Harvey, Ill.

Misc.Lansing State Journal (MI), Friday, 30 November 1951:  Fruitport, Nov. 30 - Tragedy won't let up on the Pitre family.  Three of the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pitre were killed in World War II - Donald and Francis, in action, and Frank in an auto accident in Louisiana while he also was a soldier.  The mother is ill in Florida.  The father, 69, was en route to visit the mother when a two-car collision occurred Nov. 17 at Plymouth, Ind.  The father was injured and returned home.  He died Tuesday night.  An autopsy showed it was the result of the accident injuries, a coroner's report stated today.

Louis Burdette Parker (Pitre):  Tampa Bay Times (St. Petersburg, FL), Tuesday, 13 May 1986:  Parker, Louis B., 77, of Imperial Estates, Brooksville, died Sunday (May 11, 1986).  Born in Wells, N.Y., he came here 12 years ago from Harvey, Ill. and was a retired bronze molder and a Methodist.  Survivors include three sons, Robert Locke, Buffalo Grove, Ill., George Parker, Lockport, Ill., and Kenneth Parker, Houston; a daughter Irene Johnson, Brooksville; three brothers, John, Grand Haven, Mich., Peter, Albany, N.Y., and Morgan Peitre, Fruitport, Mich.; six sisters, Nini Marcellus, Brooksville, Helen Podschelne, Ester Kucel, and Audrey Frohn, all of Gloversille, N.Y., and Bernice McAlliter and Marcella Correll, both of Fruitport; 18 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.  Turner Funeral Homes, Spring Hill.

Bernard Kenneth Pitre:  Holland Evening Sentinel (MI), Saturday, 11 September 1965:  Muskegon - Bernard Kenneth Pitre, 51, 2586 Vig Dr., Fruitport, died this morning in the Muskegon Osteopathic Hospital following a five weeks illness. He was employed at the Noreen Pattern and Foundry Co., in Fruitport.  He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  His wife, the former Lillian Mandelker, died in 1957.  Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carl Squires and Mrs. Roger Christinson and his mother, Mrs. Henry Pitre, all of Fruitport; two sisters, Mrs. Carl McAllister of Fruitport and Mrs. John Sterkenberg of Twin Lakes; three brothers, Morgan Pitre of Fruitport, John Parker of Grand Haven and Louis Parker of Harvey, Ill.; three grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Van Zantwick Funeral Chapel in Grand Haven with Donald Miles officiating.  Burial will be in Lake Forest cemetery with military rites under the auspices of Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post No. 326 of the VFW.

Frank Francis Pitre:  Grand Haven (MI), 26 February 1942 (Special) - Frank Francis Pitre, 26, route 2, Spring Lake, died early Sunday in an automobile accident near Alexandria, La., while he and Mrs. Pitre were en route to Camp Livingston, La., to visit his twin brother, Sgt. Francis Pitre, who is a member of Co. F, Grand Haven national guard unit.  Details of the accident were not available today nor was it known whether Mrs. Pitre was injured.  He was a resident of this section for four years, coming from Lowell, Ind.  He and Mrs. Pitre, the former Isabelle Mitchell of Spring Lake, were married in September, 1940.  Since he returned from army service, Mr. Pitre had been employed at the Camfield plant and recently went into the employ of the Oldsburg Mfg. Co.  He was born in Crete, Ill., Jan. 2, 1916.  The two brothers had enlisted in Co. F and left in October, 1940, for training.  Surviving are the widow; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pitre; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Brodowski and Marcella of Grand Haven; and six brothers, John and Donald of Grand Haven, Louis of Phoenix, Ill., Mordan, of Hobart, Ind., Bernard of Harvey, Ill., and Sgt. Francis of Camp Livingston.

Donald D. Pitre:  Grand Haven (MI), 25 January 1945 (Special) - Pfc. Donald D. Pitre, 23, with the 77th infantry, was killed in Leyte, the Philippines Dec. 16, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pitre of Fruitport, former Grand Haven residents, were informed by telegram Sunday.  A brother, Sgt. Francis Pitre, was killed in the Buna battle in New Guinea Nov. 30, 1942, while fighting with Co. F of the 32nd division, and another brother former Sgt. Frank Pitre, was killed in 1942, in a traffic accident in Louisiana shortly after he was discharged from the army.  The latter two were twins.  Pfc. Donald was born in Seder, Ill., June 1, 1921, and attended school at Grant Park, Ill.  He was employed by the Camfield Manufacturing Co. in Grand Haven before being inducted into service Oct. 8, 1943.  He left this country last March after training at Camp Wheeler, Ga., and Camp Pickett, Va., and served in Hawaii, Guam and the Philippines.  He was baptized into the Presbyterian church while overseas.  Surviving are the parents; two sisters, Mrs. Carl McAllister of Fruitport and Mrs. A.R. Turner of Gary, Ind.; and four brothers, John Parker of Grand Haven, Louis Parker of Harvey, Ill., Morgan Pitre of Portsmouth, N.H., and Bernard Pitre, serving with the U.S. navy in the Pacific.

- Grand Haven, Mar. 1 (Special) - Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pitre, former Grand Haven residents now residing in Fruitport, have received the Purple Heart medal awarded posthumously to their son, Pfc. Donald Pitre, who was killed in action on Leyte last Dec. 16, 194?.  He had been overseas since March of 1944 and had fought in the battle of Guam.  Prior to entering the service in October of 1942 he had been employed at the Camfield Manufacturing Co.  A brother, Francis, was killed in action in New Guinea in November of 1942 and another brother, Frank a twin of Francis, was killed while on the army reserve list, in an automobile accident in Louisiana in February of 1942 while on his way to visit his twin brother, who was then stationed at Camp Livingston.  Another brother, Bernard, with the navy, is in the Pacific area.
