Obituary: The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 21 February 1980: Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in St. Peters Catholic Church in Grand Prairie, for Frank L. Pitre, 86, a retired farmer of Grand Prairie, who died at 6:10 p.m. Friday, in Ville Platte General Hospital, following a long illness. Burial was in the St. Peter cemetery, under the direction of Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte. He is survived by his wife, the former Elaine Guillory, Grand Prairie; two sons, Ray Pitre, Sr. of Grand Prairie and Charles Goudeau, Arnaudville; three daughters, Mrs. Orise Fontenot and Mrs. Eugee Manuel, Ville Platte and Mrs. Lee J. Stelly, Arnaudville; three brothers, Henry Pitre, Grand Prairie; Emile Pitre, Washington; and Laurent Pitre, Opelousas; two sisters, Mrs. Eddie Vidrine, Plaisance and Mrs. Herbert Sebastian, Opelousas. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Burial followed in the church cemetery. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and friend, Mr. Pitre died Monday, January 5, 2015, at the Senior Village Nursing Facility in Opelousas. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. Survivors include his beloved wife of 72 years Anna Lee LaFleur Pitre of Grand Prairie; two sons, Rayford 'Ray' Pitre, Jr. and his wife, Jeanne, of Ville Platte and Wayne Pitre and his wife, Pamela, of Marshall, Texas; three daughters, Sandy Rougeau and her husband, Jim, of Lafayette, Ginny Fuselier and her husband, Chris, of Ville Platte and Angie Stelly and her husband, Troy, of Washington. Precious memories will be fondly recounted by his 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Louis and Elaine Pitre; one son, Glenn Pitre; and two grandchildren, Laurie Pitre and Scotty Fuselier. Father Mark Melancon officiated. She is survived by her husband Eugee Manuel of Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Pine Prairie, sons Bill Manuel of Ville Platte, Bob Manuel and wife Sarah of Ville Platte, daughter Phyllis Eaves and husband Cecil of Bayou Chicot, brother Ray Pitre Sr. of Grand Prairie, eight grandchildren Spencer Eaves, Chantelle Johnson, Brittany Eaves, Lucas Manuel, Joel Manuel, Mandy Lilly, Hallie Adams, Candice Allo, and three great-grandchildren, Isaac Lilly, Paulina Eaves, and Laura Johnson, and is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Elaine Guillory Pitre, and two sisters Adele Fontenot Thompson and Gertie Stelly. A visitation will be held Monday November 19, 2007 from 4pm-10pm with a rosary being recited at 6pm and again from 7:30 am until the time of services at 3pm. LaVille Funeral Home.
