MISC:  L'Impartial, Thursday, 13 February 1902:  Merry Reunion.  On the occasion of the silver wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Diogene Pitre, of Ste. Marie, Hope River.  On Thursday, February 4, 1902, Mr. and Mrs. Diogene Pitre, of Hope River, celebrated the 25th anniversary of their marriage.  This happy event gave occasion to a beautiful meeting of about sixty people, where the most outstanding citizens of the parishes of Hope River and Rustico were represented.  The Reverend Pastor of the parish, Rev. James E. McDonald, who always showed a truly paternal love for his parishioners, had kindly enhanced the excitement of the feast by attending it.  An address was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Pitre, after which a sumptuous supper was attended.  After the meal the Rev. Pastor gave a beautiful speech or abounded in the salutary advice he always has to give to his parishioners.  He noted, among other things, that Mr. and Mrs. Pitre were well known for their kindness to their fellow men and for their Christian qualities, and he added that he hoped that Mr. and Mrs. Pitre would see their golden wedding and even their diamond wedding.  Mr. Maximillien Pineau of Rustico, then took the floor and made a speech of circumstance which was very well tasted.  The rest of the evening was spent in the most pleasant way - the card game, the Acadian songs and dance.  A proclamation by Master Henri Doucet, a student of the Ste. Marie school, provoked the loudest applause.  The evening ended in the way that the Acadians are always faithful to observe, - the rosary and the evening prayer in common.  Mr. and Mrs. Pitre received several valuable gifts.
