Joannes Madison Pitre: St. Landry Clarion (Opelousas, LA), Saturday, 12 March 1910: Tribute of Respect - Prairie Ronde Local 686, F.E. & C. Union of America: Whereas, the great and Supreme Ruler of the universe has in his infinite wisdom removed from among us, one of our worthy members and esteemed brother, Madison Pitre, who departed from this world on Feb'y 21st, 1910, at the age of 52 years. Brother Pitre was a member of the committee on the good of the order, was punctual in attending our local meetings, faithfully discharging his duties. He leaves a wife and 5 children to mourn his sad demise. Resolved, That the sudden removal of such a life from among us, leaves a vacancy and a shadow that will be deeply realized by all the members and friends of this organization, and will prove a serious loss to this local and community. Resolved, That with deep sympathy with the bereaved family of our brother we express our hope that even so great a loss to us all may be overruled for good by Him who doeth all things well. Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of this local and that a special page be devoted to their use, that one copy be sent to the local papers, and a copy forwarded to the bereaved family. Resolved further, That our Charter be draped in mourning for thirty days, and that all members of this local wear the usual badge of mourning for the same period of time. J.F. Joseph Artemon Pitre: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 1 April 1943: Mr. Artemon Pitre was found dead at his home last Sunday afternoon. He died sometime the night before, his death being caused by a heart attack. He was 75 years of age and had resided in Melville for the past 2 years. He came here from Opelousas. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Pershing Pitre, nephew of the deceased at the Prairie Ronde Baptist Church with interment in the Prairie Ronde Baptist cemetery. He is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Albert Deville and Mrs. Theogene Deville of Melville, and Mrs. Azema Bertrand of Eunice; and four sons: Amos and Leon of Melville and Ledo and Ambroise of Opelousas.
Octavie Pitre: Weekly Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Saturday, 14 February 1953: Octavia Frame of Palmetto, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1953 at 3 p.m. at her home. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Joe Ledoux of Opelousas, Mrs. Sam Stegall, Mrs. Edgar Bertrand and Mrs. V. F. Phillips, all of Palmetto; three sons, D. T. Frame, Simpson Frame and Walter Frame, all of Palmetto. Funeral services were held Wednesday Feb. 11, 1953 at the United Pentacostal Church in Palmetto at 5 p.m. with Rev. Mizell officiating. Interment was at the Bayou Rouge Cemetery in Palmetto under the direction of the First National Funeral Home of Bunkie.
