Obituary:  The DeQuincy News (DeQuincy, LA), Wednesday, 9 June 1976:  Funeral services for Charlie Pitre, 80, were held Sunday, June 6, at his home on Anise Street.  The Rev. Jack Bell, assisted by the Rev. Mid Burnett, officiated.  Burial was in Perkins Cemetery under direction of Snider Funeral Home.  Pallbearers were Gerald Martin, Bobby Pharris, Donald Hyatt, Terry Brossett, Preston Smith and Randal Pitre.  Mr. Pitre died June 4 at his home.  A native of Kinder, he had lived in DeQuincy for 43 years.  He was a veteran of World War I.  Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Dora Pitre; two sons, J. D. and Charles S. Pitre; three daughters, Mrs. Avey Martin, Mrs. Annabelle Pharris and Mrs. Shirley Hyatt, all of DeQuincy; one stepson, Joe Brossette of Pasadena, Tex.; one brother, Mansel Pitre of Carlyss; 29 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.

Viola M. Pitre:  Weekly American Press (LA), Friday, 9 November 1934:  Viola Mae Pitre, the 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pitre, of Hecker, died at St. Patrick's hospital at 2:15 this morning, after a brief illness of three days.  She is survived by her parents, and five brothers and sisters, Avey, Anna Belle, Shirley, J. D. and Charles Sidney.  Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 this afternoon, with the Rev. Manson Pitre, of DeQuincy, uncle of the deceased, officiating.  Interment was in the Hay cemetery at Hecker.  The services were private.  Burke and Trotti were in charge.

John David Pitre:  The DeQuincy News (DeQuincy, LA), Wednesday, 11 August 1976:  Funeral services for John D. Pitre, 50, of DeQuincy, were Tuesday, Aug. 10 in Snider Funeral Home.  Burial was in Perkins Cemetery.  The Rev. Jack Bell and the Rev. Mid Burnette officiated.  Mr. Pitre died at 3 a.m. Aug. 9, in a Lake Charles hospital.  He was a veteran of World War II and had lived in the DeQuincy area all his life.  Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Joyce Smith of Leesville, Mrs. Judy O'Quinn and Mrs. Joan Perkins, both of DeQuincy; his mother, Mrs. Dora Pitre of DeQuincy; two brothers, Charles S. Pitre, of DeQuincy and Joe Brosett of Provincal.  Also three sisters, Mrs. Adey Martin, Mrs. Anna Belle Pharris and Mrs. Shirley Hyatt, all of DeQuincy; and 13 grandchildren.

Anna Bell Pitre:  Anna Bell Pharris, born Pitre, a native of Hecker, Louisiana and a resident of DeQuincy, Louisiana died on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, Sulphur, Louisiana.  She was Baptist by faith and a member of Bible Baptist Church, DeQuincy, Louisiana.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.  She loved children and was a Sunday School teacher for several years at Northside Baptist Church.  She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Dora Cating Pitre.  She is survived by one son and wife of Oretta, Louisiana and one daughter in law of DeQuincy, Louisiana.  She was also survived by 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years, Henry Ford Pharris, two sons, William Pharris and Bobby Pharris, one daughter, Gloria Parker, four brothers, John Pitre, Charles Pitre, A. V. Pitre, Joseph Brossette, and four sisters, Avey Martin, Viola Pitre, Lola Pitre and Shirley Hyatt and one granddaughter, Crystal Pharris.  The funeral services were held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Christensen Funeral Home, DeQuincy, Louisiana.  Interment followed at Perkins Cemetery, DeQuincy, Louisiana.  Christensen Funeral Home, DeQuincy, Louisiana.

Charles Sidney Pitre:  Southwest Daily News (Sulphur, LA), Sunday, 12 May 1991:  DeQuincy - Services for Charles S. 'Buddy' Pitre, 59, will be at 2 p.m. today, May 12, in Northside Baptist Church.  Rev. Bob Colquette will officiate.  Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery under direction of Perkins Funeral Home.  Pitre died Friday in a local hospital.  He was a lifelong resident of the DeQuincy area and a retired employee of the Calcasieu Parish School Board.  He was a deacon of Northside Baptist Church.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Estelle Pitre of DeQuincy; two daughters, Cathy Daiken of Crossett, Ark., and Charlotte Whitman of DeQuincy; three sons, Bobby Damerell of Lake Charles and Randall and Wendell Pitre, both of DeQuincy; three sisters, Anna Bell Pharris, Shirley Hyatt and Avey Martin, all of DeQuincy; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Shirley Pitre:  Shirley Hyatt, age 79, of Singer, LA., died Sunday, November 20, 2011, at Lake Charles Memorial in Lake Charles, LA.  She was a life long and faithful member of Pentecostal House of Praise.  She lived her life by example and was a testimony to all who knew her.  She will be remembered as a very generous, modest and loving woman.  She loved sewing, working in the yard and took pride in her flowers.  Above all that she loved in this life, nothing compared to the love she had for her family.  She was the daughter of the late Charles Pitre and the late Madora Cating Pitre.  She is survived by her three daughters, Janice Mitchell of Ragley, La., Peggy Newman and husband Mickey of Singer, La., Tina Hyatt of Singer, La., three sons Donald Hyatt and wife Mary of Singer, La., Ronald Hyatt and wife Senith of Singer, La., Thomas Hyatt and wife Kelly of Orange, Texas, one sister, Anna Bell Pharris of DeQuincy, La., one daughter-in-law Janice "Sissy" Hyatt of Singer, La., seventeen grandchildren, thirty eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 41 years Edward Hyatt, son Edward "Wayne" Hyatt, grandson Carl Lynn Stampley, great- grandson Ryan Burgess, four brothers- J.D. "Nix" Pitre, Charles "Buddy" Pitre, A.V. Pitre, Joe Brosette, three sisters- Lola May Pitre, Viola Pitre and Avey Martin.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm Monday, November 21, 2011 and from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Pentecostal House of Praise.  Funeral service will be at Pentecostal House of Praise at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 22, 2011 , Pastor David Kennon and Rev. Anthony Kennon officiating.  Interment will be at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields, La.
