Obituary: The DeQuincy News (DeQuincy, LA), Wednesday, 11 August 1976: Funeral services for John D. Pitre, 50, of DeQuincy, were Tuesday, Aug. 10 in Snider Funeral Home. Burial was in Perkins Cemetery. The Rev. Jack Bell and the Rev. Mid Burnette officiated. Mr. Pitre died at 3 a.m. Aug. 9, in a Lake Charles hospital. He was a veteran of World War II and had lived in the DeQuincy area all his life. Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Joyce Smith of Leesville, Mrs. Judy O'Quinn and Mrs. Joan Perkins, both of DeQuincy; his mother, Mrs. Dora Pitre of DeQuincy; two brothers, Charles S. Pitre, of DeQuincy and Joe Brosett of Provincal. Also three sisters, Mrs. Adey Martin, Mrs. Anna Belle Pharris and Mrs. Shirley Hyatt, all of DeQuincy; and 13 grandchildren.
