Ray Prentiss Pitre:  The Times (Shreveport, LA), Monday, 19 May 1969:  Lake Charles - Three persons have been arrested in connection with the killing Saturday of a Lake Charles man, according to the Calcasieu Sheriff's Department.  The victim was Ray T. Pitre, 56.  He was killed by a shotgun blast in the lower stomach about 6:40 p.m. on his front lawn.  The department said the shooting followed an argument between Pitre and three persons in their earlier twenties.  They were not named.  They were described as two males and one female.  The trio was arrested half and hour after the killing by state police at a road block on Louisiana 27, some 10 miles north of Sulphur.  Investigation was continuing in the case Sunday.  No reason was given for the argument between Pitre and the three arrested persons.  Funeral services for Mr. Pitre will be at 10 a.m. today in the Hanner Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery.  Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Eulie Fontenot of West Lake; one brother, Charles Pitre of Lake Charles.

- Beaumont Journal (TX), Tuesday, 20 May 1969:  Lake Charles - Charged in the Saturday death here of Ray P. Pitre, 55, of 2006 1/2 Lake Charles, were two Texans and one Lake Charles resident.  The three were charged Monday in 14th Judicial District Court.  Robert Samuel Waldrep, 21, of 1221 Delano, Orange, was charged with murder and is being held in the Calcasieu Parish jail without bond.  Glenda Florence Reed, 29, of -25 Claxton, Orange, is charged with being an accessory after the fact and is in the parish jail. A $5,000 bond was set on the woman by Dist. Judge Cecil Cutrer.  The third person allegedly involved is David Lonnie Reeves, 23, of 2123 Cline, Lake Charles, who has been charged with aggravated assault and whose bond was set at $2,000 by Cutrer.  Pitre was shot in the lower abdomen and died almost instantly, Sheriff Henry A. Reid said.  The trio charged were apprehended by state police at a road block on Louisiana 27, 10 miles north of Sulphur just 35 minutes after the sheriff's office received notice of the slaying.  Pitre was a retired carpenter.  Services were held for him at Hammer Funeral Home Monday.  Burial was in Graceland Cemetery.  A brother and a sister survive.
