Obituary:  The Kinder Courier News (Kinder, LA), Wednesday, 12 June 1968:  Artelus Pitre, 86, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday in his home after a brief illness.  Funeral services were at 9 a.m. Monday from St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.  The Rev. John Maguire, assistant pastor, officiated.  Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery near Elton under the direction of Ardoin Funeral home of Kinder.  A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.  Pitre was a lifelong resident of the Kinder area.  He was a retired farmer.  Survivors, all from Kinder, are, two sons, Edwin and Mervin Pitre; three daughters, Mrs. Lucenia Langley, Mrs. Lucy Fontenot and Mrs. Gladys Ortego; one sister, Mrs. Angelina Marcantel; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Obituary:  Lake Charles American Press (Lake Charles, LA), Monday, 24 September 1962:  Kinder - Mrs. Olivia Pitre, 83, died at 12:45 a.m. today in her home here following an illness of two years.  Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the St. Phillip Neri Catholic church with Rev. A.J. Robichaud, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in the Liberty cemetery near Elton under direction of Ardoin funeral home of Kinder.  Mrs. Pitre was a life-long resident of the Kinder area.  Survivors are her husband, Artelus Pitre; two sons, Edwin and Mervin Pitre; three daughters, Mrs. Lucy Fontenot, Mrs. Lucenia Langley and Mrs. Gladys Ortego, all of Kinder; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Manuel of Kinder and Mrs. Amar Miller of Elton; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Lucy Pitre:  The Kinder Courier News (Kinder, LA), Thursday, 19 January 1995:  Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Fontenot, 91, were held Jan. 16 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.  The Rev. James Gaddy officiated.  Burial was in Liberty Cemetery.  Mrs. Fontenot died Sunday, Jan. 15, 1995, in the Kinder Nursing Home.  A native of Kinder, she retired from the Allen Parish School as a lunch room worker.  She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America.  Survivors are one son, Elwin 'Red' Fontenot of Deweyville, Tex.; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Edwin Pitre:  The Kinder Courier News (Kinder, LA), Thursday, 7 February 1985:  Funeral services for Mr. Edwin Pitre, age 76, of Kinder, La. was at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 1985.  Rosary was at 7 p.m., Friday, February 2, 1985.  Chapel Service was in Ardoin's Chapel with Rev. Msgr. A.J. Robichaud officiating.  Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery under direction of Ardoin's Funeral Home of Kinder.  Mr. Pitre died at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 1, 1985, at the Allen Parish Hospital of a sudden illness.  He was a native of the Kinder area.  He was a retired farm hand.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Adeline Pitre of Kinder, La.; three sons, Mr. Shelton Pitre of Oberlin, La., Mr. Elroy Pitre of Houston, Texas and Mr. William (Bill) Pitre of Corpus Christi, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Juanita (Joyce) Amy of Bridge City, Texas; one step-daughter, Mrs. Hazel Courville of Oberlin, La.; one brother Mr. Mervin Pitre of Kinder, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Ortego and Mrs. Lucy Fontenot of Kinder, La.; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Gladys Pitre:  The Kinder Courier News (Kinder, LA), Thursday, 19 September 1991:  Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Billodeaux, 77, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 12, from St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.  The Reverend Roland Vaughn officiated.  Burial was in Liberty Cemetery in Elton under direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.  Mrs. Billodeaux died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 1991, in the Kinder hospital.  She was a native of the Kinder area.  Survivors are one son, Alvin Billodeaux of Oberlin; one daughter, Mrs. D. K. Roberson of Highlands, Texas; one brother, Mervin Pitre of Kinder; one sister, Mrs. Lucy Fontenot of Kinder, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. 

 

Mervin Pitre:  The Kinder Courier News (Kinder, LA), Thursday, 23 September 1993:  Funeral services for Mervin Pitre, 77, were held Sept. 21 in Ardoin's Funeral Home.  The Rev. James Gaddy and Fredrick LaPoint officiated.  Burial was in Liberty Cemetery in Elton.  Mr. Pitre died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1993, in a local care center.  A lifelong resident of Kinder, he was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.  He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lucy Fontenot of Kinder.
