Obituary:  The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Monday, 29 September 1924:  Antoine Pete, 55 years old, dropped dead at his home in the village of Erie Sunday.  The deceased had not been ill.  A week ago he suffered an injury to a finger.  He leaves a wife and several children.  Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's church, Erie, Wednesday morning.  Burial will be made in St. Joseph's cemetery, Erie.

Obituary:  The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Monday, 13 December 1948:  Erie, Dec. 13 - Mrs. Anna Pete, 75, died of uremic poisoning yesterday at her home, 8911 Washington St., Erie.  She had been seriously ill since July 22.  Born Feb. 27, 1873, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Laginess of Erie.  On June 25, 1894 she was married to Antoine Pete at St. Joseph Church, Erie, by the Rev. Father Thomas.  Mrs. Pete has been a lifelong resident of Monroe County.  She was a member of St. Joseph Altar Society.  Surviving are one son, Roy Pete; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Manore, Mrs. Florence Knueven and Mrs. Viola Grodi, Mrs. Virginia Holtz, all of Erie, and Mrs. Elizabeth Bloom of Rockwood; and a brother, Roger Lasiness of LaSalle.  There were 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  The remains are at the Maurice funeral home, Erie.  Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and 9 at St. Joseph's Church.  Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Erie.  There will be rosary this evening and tomorrow at 8:30 at the funeral home.

Cletus Joseph Pete:  Detroit Free Press (MI), Monday, 20 July 1925:  Driver, Blinded by Lights, Killed - Monroe, Mich., July 19 - Cletus Joseph Pete, 24 years old, unmarried, son of Mrs. Antoine Pete, of Erie township, was instantly killed, while Morris Grodi, also of Erie, escaped with minor bruises and a shaking up, when a small automobile truck in which they were riding left the Lakeside road, 11 miles southeast of here, turning over in an eight-foot ditch.  The accident occurred about midnight Saturday while the men were returning home from Lakeside.  It is believed Pete, who was driving the truck, lost control of the wheel, due to glaring headlights on another machine.  Coroner George Huber and Sheriff Joseph J. Kinsey decided an inquest unnecessary.  Pete is survived by his mother, two brothers and five sisters.

 

Roy Charles Pete:  Toledo Blade (Toledo, OH), Monday, 12 November 1956:  Erie, Mich., Nov. 12 - Roy Charles Pete, 53, of Erie, died Saturday in the home of a sister, Mrs. George Bloom, in Newport.  He was a construction worker and had lived his entire life in this area.  Surviving also are sisters, Mrs. Florence Knueven, and Mrs. Viola Grodi, of Erie, and Mrs. Virginia Holt, of Bunnell, Fla.  Services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Maurice Mortuary and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

 

Florence Pete:  Erie - Florence E. Drouillard, 91, of Erie died at 5:45 a.m. Friday (9 Aug 1996) at Golden Haven Nursing Home, Toledo.  She had been in declining health for several years.  Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Bennett Funeral Home, Erie, where a prayer service is set for 7 p.m. Sunday.  Private funeral services will be held Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Erie.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Erie.  Born July 21, 1905, in Erie, she was the daughter of August and Anna (Lajiness) Pete.  She married Harry Knueven in 1924 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  He died in November, 1948.  She then married Ernest Drouillard in 1958.  He died in 1973.  She belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Georgetta Beck of Erie; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Grodi and Mrs. Jack (Virginia) Holt, both of DeBary, Fla.; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.  Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Viola Anna Pete:  Orlando Sentinel (FL), Wednesday, 12 February 1997:  Viola Anna Grodi, 88, Eldorado Street, DeBary, died Sunday, Feb. 9.  Mrs. Grodi was a retired short-order cook.  Born in Erie, Mich., she moved to Central Florida in 1973.  She was Catholic.  Survivors: son, Marvin, Mims; daughter, Mary Remelius, DeBary; sister, Virginia Holt, DeBary; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren.  Altman-Long Funeral Home, DeBary.

Elizabeth Agnes PeteThe News Journal (Daytona Beach, FL), Tuesday, 14 October 1986:  DeBary - Elizabeth Agnes Bloom, 75, 134 Lucerne Dr., a resident of DeBary for 10 years, died Monday at Hillhaven Health Care Center in Sanford.  Mrs. Bloom was born in Erie, Mich., and moved to DeBary from Bunnell.  She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Cathiloc Church of Korona.  Survivors include her three sisters, Virginia Holt, DeBary, Viola Grodi, Ormond Beach, and Florence Drouillard, Erie, Mich.  Altman is in charge.

Vearel Pete:  The Monroe Evening News (Monroe, MI), Tuesday, 30 July 1935:  Verle Pete, aged 21 years, died in the Monroe Hospital at 10:30 p.m. Monday of heart trouble and complications.  He was brought to the hospital Sunday afternoon.  He was the son of Mrs. Antoine Pete of Erie.  The body has been removed to Nadeau and Weber's undertaking parlors on west Front street pending funeral arrangements.  Besides his mother, he leaves five sisters, Mrs. Irene Manore, Mrs. Florence Knueven, Mrs. Viola Grodi, Mrs. Elizabeth Bloom and Miss Virginia Pete, all of Erie and a brother Roy Pete of Erie.  The body will be taken to the home of Mrs. Knuven this afternoon.  Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Erie Thursday morning at 9 o'clock.

 

Virginia Pearl Pete:  Orlando Sentinel (FL), Thursday, 11 October 2001:  Virginia Pete Holt, 81, Lucerne Drive, DeBary, died Tuesday, Oct. 9.  Mrs. Holt was a homemaker.  Born in Erie, Mich., she moved to Central Florida in 1948.  She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church.  Survivors: son, Jack E., Jr., Sanford; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild.  Altman-Long Funeral Home, DeBary.
