Clara Delphine Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA):  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off for Clara P. Vegas, 79, a native and resident of Cut Off, who died at 4:50 p.m. April 3, 2000.  Visitation will be 10 a.m. until funeral time at the church.  Burial will be at the church cemetery.  She was the mother of August Vegas and Carolyn "Kay" Danos; and sister of Bertman Pitre, Verline Gisclair, Janet Lafont and Mabel Galjour.  She is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Vegas; parents, August and Alzina D. Pitre; and brothers, Hayman Pitre and Harold "T-Brown" Plaisance.  She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters and choir.  She was a eucharistic minister and lector.  She was the recipient of the Bishop's Stewardship Award.  Donations to Holy Rosary Catholic School, P.O. Box 40, Larose, LA, are preferred.  Samart Funeral Home of Cut Off is in charge of arrangements.

 

Hayman Joseph Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA):  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off for Hayman J. Pitre, 76, a native and resident of Cut Off, who died at 1:50 p.m. Oct. 10, 1999.  Visitation will be noon to funeral time at the church.  Burial will be at the church cemetery.  He was the husband of Alzina Eymard Pitre; father of Michael G. Pitre; and brother of Bertman Pitre, Clara Begas, Verline Gisclair, Janet Lafont and Mabel Galjour.  He is also survived by three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Alzina Danos Pitre; and brother, Harold "T-Brown" Plaisance.  He was a lifelong oyster fisherman, the owner of Captain Hayman Oyster Company, a member of Louisiana Oyster Growers Association, a member of the Holy Name Society, a fourth degree knight in the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

 

Bertman R. Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), 20 July 2005:  Bertman R. Pitre, 80, a native and resident of Cut Off, died at 5:13 a.m. July 19, 2005.  Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery.  He is survived by his second wife, Emily Guidry Pitre; first wife, Romanda S. Pitre; son, Terry Pitre; stepsons, Fred Jr. and Thomas Pitre; stepdaughters, Katie Verret, Elaine Duet, Louise Pitre and Emily Pitre; sisters, Verilna Gisclair, Janet Lafont and Mabel Galjour; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; and 17 step-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Alzina Danos Pitre; brothers, Hayman Pitre and Harold "T-Brown" Plaisance; and sister, Clara Vegas.  He was a disabled veteran of World War II.  He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and a former member of the Lions club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and making people laugh.  Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Janet Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA):  Janet "Honey" Pitre Lafont, 84, a native and resident of Cut Off passed away August 30, 2013.  Visitation will take place on Wednesday September 4, 2013 from 10am till funeral time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off with services beginning at 12 noon and burial following at Cheramie Cemetery.  She is survived by her daughter Patricia Turnage, son Jimmy "T-Jim" Lafont, sister Verline Gisclair, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her husband Adam "Lou Lou" J. Lafont, parents August and Alzina Pitre, daughter Tammy Lafont, brothers Bertman Pitre, Hayman Pitre and Harold Plaisance, and sisters Clara Vegas and Maybel Galjour.

 

Mable Pitre:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), Monday, 30 March 2009:  Mable Pitre Galjour, 77, a native and resident of Cut Off, La., died Friday, March 27, at 6:30 p.m.  She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Carol P. Galjour; son, James Peter Galjour; daughter, Anne Galjour; sisters, Virline Gisclair and Jeanette Lafont; and grandchildren, Ian Mayne and Caitlyn Galjour.  She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Alzina Danos Pitre; and brothers, Harold "T-Brown" Plaisance, Bertman Pitre and Hayman Pitre.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she was also a wonderful Blackjack player.  She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off.  Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the funeral service to follow.  Burial will be at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano, La.  Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Cut Off is in charge of the arrangements.
