Notes for Etienne Hebert:

- Etienne Hebert was born c1746 in Acadia.  Following the deportations Etienne's family ended up in Cherbourg where his parents died within two months of each other early in 1760.  His younger sister Marie married 3 years later at the age of 15, and Etienne married in 1767 at Le Havre to Marie Josephe Lavergne.  On 15 November 1775, Etienne 34 seaman, wife Marie 38, children Marie Rose 9, Jean Louis 8, Guillaume 6, Marie Marguerite 5, and Louis Gabriel 5 months and Etienne's sister Felicite 20, were in the Second Convoy leaving Chatellerault for Nantes.  The birth of twins in September 1778 was possibly too much for Marie and she died the following month.  About 9 months later Etienne married Marie Bourg, but she died, probably in childbirth, 14 months later.  With so many minor children Etienne married again 9 months later in Chantenay to Marianne Madeleine Braud.  On 20 August 1785 they left France for good on L'Amitie and arrived in LA on 8 November 1785, listed as Etienne Hebert sailor 38, Magdelaine Braud 36, Cecille 18, Louis 15, Guillaume 12, and Gabriel 10, plus Marie Magdeleine (daughter of 3rd marriage) nursling.  Most of the families from this ship settled in the Lafourche area and Etienne was no exception.  By the 1788 census he had 6 arpents cleared and a couple of pigs on his farm.  Within another few years he had 6 cattle and 20 swine, and after another 10 he had doubled the size of his land to 12 arpents.  Etienne died in 1805 and his widow went to live with her daughter Marie and her husband Antoine Boutary.
