-- Son Erastus Bryant Merritt b. 20 Oct 1855 N.O., d. 22 Mar 1912 Norfolk, VA. Married Frances c1886.  Francis b. Jun 1864 GA.  Virginian Pilot (Norfolk), Saturday, 23 March 1912:  E.B. Merritt died at his residence, No. 232 Bossevain avenue, at 1:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, after a lingering illness in the 57th year of his age.  The deceased was a native of New Orleans, La., but had been a resident of Norfolk for twenty-four years, where he was well known and highly esteemed.  He was a member of Pocahontas Council Royal Arcanum.  He is survived by a widow, one daughter, Miss Bessie Merritt of this city, and three sons - Bryant Merritt of Norfolk, Neville Merritt, of China and Donald Merritt of this city.  The funeral arrangements will be announced later.

-- Son Lucius Mackintosh Merritt b. 30 Jul 1858 Pensacola, FL, d. 2 Jan 1899 Norfolk, VA.  Virginian Pilot (Norfolk), Tuesday, 3 January 1899:  Mr. Lucius M. Merritt died at St. Vincent's Hospital at 5 o'clock a.m. yesterday after an illness of brief duration, being sick only since last Friday.  He was removed from his home to the hospital Sunday.  The deceased was 40 years of age and is survived by a widow.  He was a clerk in the office of the United States Shipping Company, Columbia building.  The funeral will take place from the residence, No. 339 Duke street, at 3 o'clock this afternoon.  Tombstone Inscription, Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, VA:  L.M. Misc.:  Pensacola Journal, Tuesday, 27 March 1906:  Miss Bessie Merritt of Virginia, recently guest of Mrs. Bell, has returned from New Orleans and is visiting Mrs. J. S. McGaughey.  Mrs. Lucius Merritt is expected in a few days and will be Mrs. McGaughey's guest.

-- Son John Storm McGaughy b. 30 September 1868 Brookhaven, MS, d. 21 Dec 1913 Pensacola, FL.  Married Verina Aiken.  Verina b. 1870, d. 1957.  Obituary: Pensacola Journal, Sunday, 21 December 1913: After an illness covering a period of less than forty-eight hours, J. Storm McGaughy, a resident of Pensacola for a long period of years and well liked by all with whom he was acquainted, died this morning shortly before 1 o'clock.  Heart trouble was the cause of death.  Mr. McGaughey suffered an attack Friday morning while in his office and was carried to his home in an ambulance in a serious condition.  His condition was such that recovery was impossible and he passed away this morning.  The deceased was a native of Brookhaven, Miss., where he was born September 30, 1868.  He had been a resident of Pensacola since a young man and had been connected with the Keyeer-Muldon Company most of this time.  At one time Mr. McGaughey was a member of the city council.  The deceased is survived by a wife and one sister, Miss Lizzie McGaughy.  The hour of the funeral will be announced later.

Montgomery Advertiser (Alabama), Wednesday, 16 June 1915:  New bank charter is t6o be asked for today - Birmingham, Ala., June 16 - Announcement was made here today that application for the charter for the new Jefferson Trust Company, of which Snowden McHaughy of Gadsden is president, will be made Wednesday, the capitalization to be $250,000, which has been subscribed or underwritten.  The intentions are to raise the capital stock to $500,000 and the bank nationalized before January 1, 1916.  (More details included.)

Times Picayune, Thursday, 20 January 1949: S. M'Gaughy, 76, fatally stricken - Snowden McGaughy, 76, 2847 St. Charles, died in Charity hospital at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, 15 minutes after collapsing on a streetcar, attaches of the Orleans parish coroner's office said.  The coroner attributed his death to a heart attack.  Mr. McGaughy's body will be shipped this morning to Bolton, Miss., and then to Jackson, Miss., for funeral services.
