Notes for Lewis Pugh:

- Marriages of Richmond County, Virginia, p. 163:  Lewis Pugh, son of David Pugh of South Wales, married circa 1703, Ann born 1680-1740.  In 1731 Lewis Pugh and his eldest son, John Pugh, went from Richmond County to South Wales where the said Lewis Pugh died.  At this time, Lewis Pugh's sister, Elizabeth, wife of Benjamin Jones, was residing in North Wales.  In 1740 Ann Pugh, widow of Lewis Pugh, was residing in Richmond County and her second son, David Pugh of Lancaster County, was about to journey to Wales and seek the recovery of certain property there due to the Pugh family in Virginia.  Several depositions were taken in regard to this matter and considerable genealogical detail is recited in AB#1, page 157-160.  From this source, the North Farnham Parish Register and other seemingly reliable sources, ECD gives the following information in regard to the seven children of Lewis and Ann Pugh, all born in North Farnham Parish, vis: (a) John Pugh, born 29 April 1704, accompanied his father to South Wales in 1731; (b) David Pugh, born 25 December 1706, resided in Lancaster County in 1740 when he embarked for Wales; (c) Elizabeth Pugh, born 19 March 1708, married William Landman; (d) Henry Pugh, born 2 March 1710; died testate in Richmond County in 1766.  It appears from the will of Mary Collier, also proved in Richmond County in 1766, he married Sarah, daughter of Elizabeth Billens, and had a large family; (e) Willoughby Pugh, born 3 May 1711; died testate in Charlotte County in 1790; (f) Anne Pugh, born 14 November 1715, married Henry Headley; and (g) Lewis Pugh, born circa 1717, married 2 February 1738 Margaret Harvey (q.v.), p. 163. WB6, page 396; ECD papers, Box #4, Virginia Historical Society.
