Death Notice:  The Daily Crescent (New Orleans, LA), Thursday, 31 May 1849:  Lastie L. Pitre was struck by lightning on the 17th inst., while crossing Prairie Manor on horseback and in company with two other persons. The fluid struck the middle man, Pitre, killing him and his horse, while his companions, who were riding on each side of him, received no injury whatever.

 

The Estate of Solastie Pitre:

On 11th June 1849 Pierre Pitre petitioned the court to say that Lastie Louis Pitre had died recently leaving a succession worth less than $500, that an administrator should be appointed and the estate settled with as little expense as possible.  Pierre Pitre is appointed administrator.  The movable property is sold for $480.50.  On 18th July 1855 Pierre Pitre petitioned the court to finalize the estate.  Solastie's widow is now Mrs. Pauline Pitre, wife of Onesime Meche.

- 28 July 1855/18 Aug 1855, Opelousas Courier (Opelousas, LA) – Estate of Lastie Louis PitrePierre Pitre, Administrator, has filed a final tableau of distribution of the funds of the estate.
