Robert Vincent Pitre: Anacortes American
(WA), Thursday, 10 December 2020: Born October 26, 1935, at California
Hospital in Los Angeles to Mary Trapani and Willis Waine Pitre. Bob
grew up in Highland Park, California and attended Divine Savior Elementary
School and Mount Carmel High School. He later received an AA degree from
El Camino College. Bob met his lifelong companion, Mary Helen Egan
in 4th grade and they were married in All Saints Church, 64 years ago.
They lived in Inglewood, California and moved to Redondo Beach in 1958 where
they enjoyed the South Bay lifestyle until 2004 when they moved to Anacortes,
Washington. He started his career in the mail room at PAC Bell and then
went into home phone installations. He joined AT&T in the company
reorganization and stayed in data management and transmission. After
retirement, he went to work for TRW in their Redondo Space Park, managing data
in many of their buildings until 1995. Bob loved to travel and camp in
many locations around the western United States. On one of those trips,
while waiting for the ferry, he discovered the Skyline area of Anacortes.
He built a home there and enjoyed many of the local activities making many
friends along the way. Bob enjoyed outdoor sports and had many interests
in his life including motorcycles, snow skiing, bicycling, trap/skeet shooting
and all forms of auto racing, He was an active member of the Lynden
Shotgun Club and enjoyed his Saturday outings there. Bob "Poppy" was
preceded in death by his parents and grand-daughter Dawn Veasey. He

making Bob comfortable in his last days. Bob will be interned into the
Pacific Ocean off Catalina Island (one of his favorite dive spots) in a
celebration of his life in the spring. His family would also like to thank
all of the people who knew Bob as a friend, confidant and trusted advisor.
