Obituary:  The Bunkie Record (Bunkie, LA), Friday, 20 August 1954: Fine Citizen Died Alexandria Friday is Buried Saturday - Willie Pitre, age 75, died in an Alexandria hospital on Friday, August 13, having been a patient there for several days.  Mr. Pitre had not been in good health for a number of years, and had been a patient at Floyd's Nursing Home, in Pineville, for two years, and had been in the hospital a number of times just prior to his death.  Deceased was born in Opelousas, and had lived in this area his entire life.  Three years ago he retired from an oil company and moved to Washington, La.  He had never made his home in Bunkie, but has visited his children here on many occasions.  Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, August 14, at 2:30 o'clock from St. Anthony Catholic church, with Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. E. Howard officiating.  Interment was in the Pythian Cemetery under direction of Hixson Bros. Funeral Home, of Bunkie.  Survivors include one son, Murray Pitre, of Cheneyville; three daughters, Miss Odette Pitre, Mrs. J. L. Stanley, and Mrs. Armosa Williams, of Bunkie, and five grandchildren.  There are also four sisters, all of whom live in Ville Platte.  Pallbearers were Oscar Burke, Murray Pitre, Odell Ardoin, J. F. Stanley and Camille Lacour.

Obituary:  The Bunkie Record (Bunkie, LA), Friday, 21 February 1947:  Bunkie Citizen Succumbs to Burns - Mrs. Blanche Petrie, age 58, died Friday morning, Feb. 14, at 2:45 o'clock at the Knoll Infirmary from first and second degree burns, suffered when her clothing was ignited from a gas heater in her home on Wednesday morning, Feb. 5.  Following the accident she was rushed to the infirmary where she was treated until her death.  The deceased was born in Ville Platte and came to Bunkie in 1935 where she has made her home since.  She was a member of the Catholic faith.  Surviving are her husband, Willie Petrie, of Krotz Springs, and three daughters, Miss Odette Petrie and Miss Florence Petrie, of Bunkie; Mrs. T. C. Williams of El Paso, Texas.  One son, Murray Petrie, of Bunkie.  Two grandchildren, five brothers and three sisters.  Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at St. Anthony Catholic church with Rev. A. Olinger officiating.  Interment was in the Pythian cemetery under the direction of Hixson Bros. Funeral Home.  Serving as pall bearers were Leonard Soileau, Ferdinand Soileau, Odey Soileau, Ozia Soileau, Remi Soileau and Calvin Soileau.

Murray John Pitre:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Wednesday, 7 October 1981:  Cheneyville - Services for John Murray Pitre, 74, of Cheneyville will be at 10 a.m. today in St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. J. R. Engelen officiating.  Burial will be in Christian Cemetery under direction of Hixson Bros., Bunkie.  He died at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Veterans Administration Medical Center.  Survivors include his wife, Mabel Stanley Pitre of Cheneyville; two sons, Coleman Strickland of Alexandria and Gene Strickland of Willis, Texas; three sisters, Florence Stanley of Bunkie, Armosa William of Bunkie and Odette Pitre of Bunkie; and six grandchildren.

Joseph Montalbano officiating.  Burial will be in Pythian Cemetery.  Miss Pitre, 76, of Bunkie died at 8 a.m. Tuesday in Bunkie General Hospital.  Survivors include one sister, Armosa Williams of Bunkie.  Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today.

 

Florence Pitre:  The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Friday, 2 September 1983:  Bunkie - Services for Florence Pitre Stanley, 69, of Bunkie will be at 10:30 a.m. today in the chapel of Hixson Bros. with the Revs. Joseph Montalbano and Charles Morgan officiating.  Burial will be in Christian Cemetery, Cheneyville.  Ms. Stanley died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday in Bayou Vista Nursing Home.  Survivors include two sisters, Odette Pitre and Armosa Williams, both of Bunkie.

Joseph Montalbano officiating.  Burial will be in Pythian Cemetery under direction of Hixson Bros.  Mrs. Williams died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Lafayette.  She was formerly the owner and operator of Colonial Restaurant in Bunkie.  Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Saunders of Mobile, Ala., and Pat Sensat of Scott; and two grandchildren.  Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday in the funeral home where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today.
