Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 14 June 1971:  Chataignier - Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. today in the Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Chataignier for Willie Pitre, 63, a resident of Opelousas but formerly of Chataignier.  Burial was in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery in Ville Platte directed by Ardoin's Funeral Home.  Survivors include his widow, the former Ada Manuel; one son, Howard W. Pitre of Ville Platte; one daughter Lemin Long of Baton Rouge; three brothers: Dennis and Littel Pitre of Mamou; Dudly Pitre of West Lake; and one half-brother Able Granger of Plaquemine; one sister, Mrs. Robert Hebert of Port Allen; also one great-grandchild and two great-great grandchildren.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 30 March 2001:  Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Manuel Pitre, 91, were held at 2 p.m. today in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.  Mrs. Pitre, a longtime resident of Opelousas and a native of Ville Platte, died at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2001, in Maison deVille Nursing Home in Opelousas.  Survivors include: a son, Howard W. Pitre of Ville Platte; three sisters, Mary Pitre of Lawtell, Ivy Dupre of Opelousas and Mrs. Audrey Hebert of Metairie; grandchild, Mrs. Wanda Simoneaux Starks of Lafayette; three great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Pitre was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Pitre; and a daughter, Emma Elias.  Visiting hours were observed from 4 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. today until time of services.  A rosary was recited at 7 p.m.  Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas was in charge of arrangements.

Pitre, 90, were be held 11AM Wednesday May 3, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial followed in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.  Father Tom Voorhies officiated.  Mr. Pitre a retired farmer, cattleman, and resident of Ville Platte passed away Monday May 1, 2017 at Prompt Succor Nursing Home.  He will be missed by his loving wife Lou Ellen Roberie Pitre of Ville Platte; devoted caretakers/nieces Liz Lafleur, Wanda Simoneaux; sisters-in-law Geneva Roberie Brignac and husband Louis, Runie Roberie Thibodeaux; host of nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents Willie and Ada Manuel Pitre, sister Emmarella Pitre Hebert.  Visitation was held Tuesday May 2, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., and resumed again Wednesday May 3, 2017 from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
