Obituary:  The Springfield Union (MA), Monday, 3 January 1994:  Springfield:  Edward Peete, 83, of 86 Farnham Ave. in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield, died Sunday in Baystate Medical Center.  He was a retired 30-year inspector for the former Chapman Valve Co. of Indian Orchard.  He was born in Clinton and lived in Indian Orchard for 68 years.  He was a communicant of St. Aloysius Church and was a member of its League of the Sacred Heart Society.  He was also a member of the Indian Orchard Golden Agers.  He leaves his wife of 63 years, the former Rose M. Jerome; a son, Edward D. of Summerfield, Fla.; five daughters, Mildred Ladue of Tavares, Fla., Joan Dragon of Wilbraham, Conn., Nancy Nadeau of Springfield, and Lorraine McRobbie of Indian Orchard; a sister, Mary Demars of Tupper Lake, N.Y.; 30 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.  Another son, Richard C. Peets, died in 1981.  The funeral will be Wednesday morning at the Ratell Funeral Home and in the church, with burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.  Calling hours will be Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Drive, Springfield, formerly of Indian Orchard, died Thursday, February 27, 2003 in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield.  Born in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield, Rose was a lifelong Springfield resident.  She was a retired 18 year clerk for
the former Ahern's store of Indian Orchard.  Rose was a communicant of St. Jude Church of Indian Orchard and was a member of the parish Ladies of St. Anne Society.  She was also a member of the Indian Orchard Golden Agers.  Rose was the loving mother of Edward D. Peete and his wife Pat of Essex, CT., Joan Dragon of Wilbraham, Judith Wheelock of Middleton, CT., and Nancy Nadeau and her husband Hal of Springfield.  She was a devoted step-sister of Maurice Ramsey of Springfield, Missouri; and the adoring grandmother of 35 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  Rose was predeceased by her husband, Edward Peete, who died in 1994; by a son, Richard C. Peets who died in 1981; and by 2 daughters, Mildred Ladue who died in 1998 and Lorraine McRobbie who died in 1999.  The funeral will be Monday morning from the Byron Funeral Home, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield at 8:45 a.m. followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Jude Church, 221 Main St., Indian Orchard at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Indian Orchard.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Church c.o. St. Jude Rectory, 1326 Worcester St., Indian Orchard, MA 01151 or to a charity of choice.  Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Richard Carl Peets:  Springfield Union (Springfield, MA), Saturday, 16 May 1981:  Richard C. Peets, 45, of East Newport, Maine, retired employee of John H. Breck, Inc., West Springfield, and native of Springfield, died Friday in Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor.  He lived in Indian Orchard section of Springfield 43 years and in East Newport two years.  He leaves his wife, the former Dolores Wheelock; two sons, Richard of Springfield and Donald of Indian Orchard; a daughter, Sheri of East Newport; his parents, Edward and Rose (Jerome) Peete of Indian Orchard; a brother, Edward Peete of East Newport; five sisters, Mildred McConaha of Indian Orchard, Joan Dragon of Wilbraham, Judy Wheelock of Middletown, Conn., and Nancy Nadeau and Lorraine McRobie, both of Springfield; and a grandson.  The funeral will be Monday morning at Ratell Funeral Home and in St. Aloysius Church with burial in the parish cemetery.

 

Joan Gail Peets:  Joan G. (Peets) Dragon, of Wilbraham, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2014 surrounded by family and friends at The Atrium.  Born in Springfield, MA on September 30, 1937, Joan was the daughter of the late Edward and Rose (Gerome) Peets.  Joan was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Cecilia Church and was very active in the Womens Club and other church groups.  She was an avid member of the Red Hatter Society.  Joan was an accomplished seamstress and craftsperson putting love and creative artistry into making clothing, costumes, wreaths, and decorative household items.  She loved birds, cats, dogs and gardening.  Joan was the head waitress at the Flaming Pit Restaurant for over 15 years.  She was co-owner of The Variety Shoppe with her late husband, Donald A. Dragon, Sr.  Joan was pre-deceased by her son, Donald A. Dragon Jr., her brother Richard Peets, and her sisters Millie LaDue and Lorraine McRobbie.  She leaves behind four dearly loved children and their families to cherish her: Donna Dragon and Richard Glashow, Doreen and Edward Thibault, Daniel and Debra Dragon, and Douglas and Patricia Dragon; nine grandchildren: Sara, Leah, Michael, Rebecca, Simone, Kimberly, Meagan, Douglas and Nicole; and six great-grandchildren: Daniel, Christina, Patrick, Timothy, Erza and Eliot.  Joan also leaves her sisters Nancy Nadeau and Judy Wheelock; brother, Donald Peets; brother-in-law Hal Nadeau; sister-in-law, Marian Giblin; and, beloved friend, Paul Kennedy.  Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 23 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Wilbraham Funeral Home, Wilbraham.  Joan's funeral will be Tuesday, June 24 at 9:00 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia Church, Wilbraham.  Burial will follow in Woodland Dell Cemetery, Wilbraham.

Lorraine Ann Peete:  Sunday Republican (MA), 26 September 1999:  Springfield -- Lorraine A. (Peete) McRobbie, 54, of 393 Water St., in the Indian Orchard section, died Wednesday at New England Medical Center, Boston.  She was a retired seven-year
packer for the Jan Lynn Corp., Indian Orchard.  Born here, she lived in Indian Orchard most of her life and was a member of Jubilee Church, West Springfield.  She leaves two sons, Thomas P. and Brian E., both of West Springfield; her mother, Rose (Jerome) Peete of Wilbraham; a brother, Edward Peete of Summerfield, Fla.; three sisters, Judy Wheelock of Middletown, Conn., Joan Dragon of Wilbraham and Nancy Nadeau of Springfield; and six grandchildren.  The funeral will be Monday morning at Ratell Funeral Home, with burial at the convenience of the family in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Indian Orchard.  A calling hour will precede the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation.
