Obituary: State Times Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA), Saturday, 27
August 1938 - Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock this morning for
Ulysse Pitre, 46-year-old merchant of Opelousas, who died at his home early
yesterday morning. Mr. Pitre had been in ill health for a number of
months. The funeral was held from the Joseph Lafond & Son funeral home,
with services and interment in the Catholic church and cemetery. Surviving
the deceased are his widow, the former Miss Rena Richard; one son,
Ulysse, Jr., and two daughters, Cleo and Wyona of Opelousas; two
brothers, Charles, of Opelousas, and Joe of Oakdale, and four
sisters, Mrs. D.L. Savoy and Mrs. Steven Himel of this city; Mrs. J.E.
Johnson of Port Arthur, Tex., and Mrs. H. Hillinsworth of New
Orleans.

Misc.: Daily Clarion Progress (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 2 May 1923: Ulysse Pitre Store to be opened soon - Modern building erected and Opelousas will have new business firm shortly - The completion of the store building of Ulysse Pitre on the corner of West Landry and Railroad Avenue assures Opelousas of another modern clothing store, according to Mr. Pitre, who told a representative of the Clarion-Progress that he had ordered a complete line of men's and boys' furnishings and ladies' shoes and hosiery. Mr. Pitre is a well known young citizen of this city, enjoying a wide circle of friends throughout the parish. His friends predict much success for him. The new establishment will be opened between the 15th of May and the 1st of June, according to Mr. Pitre.

Obituary: The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Tuesday, 10 November 1992: (photo) Opelousas - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1992, at St. Landry Catholic Church for Mrs. Regina Pitre, the former Regina Richard, age 101, of Lafayette, who died after a short illness at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 1992 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Father Richard Green will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include: one son, U. L. 'Bubber' Pitre of Baton Rouge; and two daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Cleo) Bartlett of Lafayette and Wynona Seaney of Tuscola, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be: Robert Seaney, Robert Bartlett, and Mark, Mike, Steven, and Kenneth Pitre; honorary pallbearers will be Keith and Carrey Bartlett. Visitation will be held today 10-10 with a Rosary to be said at 6 p.m. and from 8 a.m. until time of services Wednesday. Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home, Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

1915: The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Ulysse Pitre of this city died
Monday morning, after a long illness, at the age of 5 months. Little
Uval had been in bad health for some time, but the news of his death was a
great shock to the many friends of the family. Interment took place at the
Catholic Church on Tuesday morning.

on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 followed by a funeral service at the Hilligoss
Shrader Funeral Home, Tuscola, IL. Wynona was born October 28, 1921 to
Ulysse L. and Regina Richard Pitre in Opelousas, LA. She married
Robert Morris Seaney on February 2, 1945 in Louisiana. Then, in 1952,
they moved to Tuscola. She is survived by three children: Sandy (Glynn)
Osburn of Bedford, TX, Robert (Lynn) Seaney of Vancouver, WA, Gail
(Mark) Nelson of Mattoon, IL.; her sister Cleo Bartlett of Lafayette,
LA, and brother Ulysse Pitre of Baton Rouge, LA.; 6 grandchildren:
Tiffany Osburn of Austin, TX; Ryan Seaney of Redmond, OR; Stacey
Osburn Wink of The Colony, TX; Erin Seaney Hodges of Sandy, OR;
Miranda Nelson Williams of Lakewood, CO; and Dakota Nelson of Austin,
TX.; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband
in 1970, her parents, and an infant brother. While in Louisiana in the
early 40’s, Wynona was a telephone operator. Outside of being a homemaker
and raising her children, her interests later included sewing, crocheting,
fabric painting, she dabbled in wood carving, and was a good cook. She was
also a long-time member of Forty Martyrs Catholic Church in Tuscola. She
will always be in our hearts. Memorials in her honor may be made to the
Alzheimer’s Association.

Ulysse L. Pitre: The Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA), Friday, 10 January 2025: Ulysse L. ("Bubba") Pitre Jr., 96, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Born November 20, 1928, in Opelousas, Louisiana, he was the son of Ulysse Leonard Pitre Sr. and Regina Richard Pitre. Bubba attended Opelousas High School and graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1952, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948, earning the WWII Victory Medal for his service. Bubba enjoyed dancing, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Pitre; his sister, Wynona Seaney; his son, Mark L. Pitre; and his son-in-law, Steve Brown. Bubba is survived by his second wife, Sarah Pitre; his sister, Cleo Bartlett; his children, Pamela Goynes and husband Eddie, Michael Pitre and wife Ann, Diane Brown, Stephen Pitre and wife Deborah, and Kenneth Pitre and wife Kristie; and his daughter-in-law, Gail Pitre. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Byron Smith and Jan Clary, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A celebration of Bubba's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Bubba will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge (Cancer Services).
