Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 15 July 1973:  (photo included)  Funeral rites were held here Saturday for Theo Pitre, 65, retired salesman and former Opelousas city councilman.  Services were conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, with burial in Sacred Heart cemetery in Prairie Ronde.  Lafond and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  Pitre died at 2:07 p.m. Friday in Lafayette General Hospital following a brief illness.  A native of Prairie Ronde, Pitre had been a resident of Opelousas for 32 years.  He served on the city council for 16 years, from 1954 until 1970.  He was also a member of the Opelousas Police Department for 10 years, and held membership in Lady of Mercy Council, Knights of Columbus.  Pitre is survived by his wife, the former Virginia Ledoux; two daughters, Mrs. James Phillips of New Orleans and Mrs. Clifford Lentzen of Carencro; two brothers, Adam Pitre and Arthur Pitre, both of Opelousas; two sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Ledoux and Mrs. Harold Boudreaux, both of Opelousas; and three grandchildren.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 15 December 1981:  Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Ledoux Pitre, 71, will be held Wednesday in Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Opelousas with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Prairie Ronde.  Mrs. Pitre, a resident of Opelousas formerly of Prairie Ronde, died at 9:15 a.m. today in Opelousas General Hospital.  Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Phillips of New Orleans and Beverly Lintzen of Carencro; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Soileau of Opelousas and Helen Fontenot of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  The Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the old Sunset Highway in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Pitre:  The New Orleans Advocate (LA), Thursday, 7 May 2020:  A private graveside service will be held for Barbara Pitre Philipps in Bellevue Cemetery in Opelousas, Louisiana.  Barbara Pitre Philipps, 79, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020.  Born in Prairie Rhonde, Barbara lived in Carencro at the time of her passing.  A graduate of Opelousas High School Class of 1958, Charity Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1962, she obtained her Bachelors of Nursing from Northwestern State University Class of 1966 and went on to teach at Charity Hospital School of Nursing until 1974.  She then continued her education at University of New Orleans for her Masters Degree in Nursing Class of 1984.  She was a lifetime member of the American Nursing Association and one of the 100 Best Nurses in Louisiana by the American Health Council.  After moving back home in 1996 she took a leave of absence for 5 years then became the Nursing Staff Development Specialist in Service Education at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center until she fully retired in 2010.  Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Beverly Pitre Gassmann of Opelousas; her former husband, Jim Philipps of Mandeville; her godchild and caregiver, Heidi Prudhomme of Arnaudville; and great nephew Tyler Guillory of Arnaudville; special godsons Trevor Lintzen of Dallas, TX and Todd Lintzen and his wife Tracy of Bridge Water, TX; nieces, Jessica Lintzen Chaisson and Allison Lintzen; 12 great-nieces and nephews and 22 great-great-nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Theo and Virginia Ledoux Pitre; sister, Brenda Pitre; and cousins, Georgie Dupre, Doris Soileau, and Helen Fontenot.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Barbara Philipps Scholarship Fund at Charity School of Nursing.
