- 19 September 1902:  ad for Livery Stables – Pitre Bros., Welsh, La., Keep good teams and Vehicles and solicit the patronage of the public.

- 2 August 1912:  Sidney Pitre, of Fenton, was a Welsh visitor Saturday and contributed to the Welsh parish seat campaign fund, assuring us he would do his  utmost to help carry his box solid for Welsh.

- 21 March 1913:  Ambroise Pitre to Sidney Pitre, 160 acres more or less, $275.00.

- Agath Pitre et als, to Sidney Pitre 160 acres more or less, $275.

- 9 May 1913:  Sid and Yves Pitre are rounding up the stock ponies and were through our vicinity Saturday with a fine bunch of prairie ponies.

- 31 July 1914:  We are sorry to report Mrs. Sidney Pitre of Fenton having been ill, but some better now. We wish Mrs. Pitre a speedy recovery and to see her out again in a few days.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 12 March 1979:  Welsh - Funeral services were to be conducted at 1 p.m. here today for Mrs. Blanche Pitre, 93, of Welsh, who died at 5 p.m. Saturday in the American Legion Hospital in Jennings.  Rites were conducted in Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church here, with burial in LeBleu Cemetery.  Hixon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  Mrs. Pitre was a native of Ville Platte, but had lived most of her lifetime in the Welsh area.  She is survived by a son, Lawrence Pitre of Welsh; one daughter, Mrs. Efma Trahan of Welsh; a brother, Eloi Demoruelle of Ville Platte; one sister, Anna Langley of Opelousas; a half-sister, Joyce Rice of Philadelphia, Pa.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Esma Pitre:  Esma Pitre Todd, 90, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, in a Lake Charles care center.  She was a native of Fenton and lifelong resident of the Fenton-Welsh area.  She was a direct descendant of a pioneer family in the Fenton area.  She was an alumna of Our Lady of the Lake High School and Our Lady of the Lake College, both in San Antonio.  She was a member of the Live Oak Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters OLSD.  Survivors include one son, Paul A. Todd Jr. of Welsh; two daughters, Sylvia Todd Abbott of Jennings and Sybil Todd Howard of Lake Charles; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and three step great-great-grandchildren.  Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, from Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church.  Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate.  Burial will be in LeBleu Cemetery in Fenton under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh.  Visitation is 3-9 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Tuesday.
