Obituary:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Friday, 22 January 1960 - On Wednesday, January 20, 1960, at 9:38 o'clock p.m., Samson J. Pitre Sr., beloved husband of Louise Marie Grillot; father of Samson J. Pitre Jr., Mrs. Barbara Wood of Huntsville, Ala., and Earl Pitre of Gulfport, Miss.; brother of Mrs. Edna Russell, Mrs. Agnes Siggio and Mrs. Verna Brink, Mrs. Grace Beldelcuze, Mrs. Adline Sausse and Ervin Pitre, son of Lydia Hebert and the late Lauless Pitre; also survived by 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; age 67 years; a native of Lafourche parish and a resident of New Orleans and Jefferson for the past 49 years.  Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of World Tire and Supply Company are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, January 22, 1960, at 11:30 o'clock a.m., from the auxilliary funeral home of Jacob Schoen and Son, Inc., 3827 Canal street, at North Scott street, with Requiem Mass at St. Dominic's church.  Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday.  Interment in St. Louis cemetery No. 3.

Obituary:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), 3 July 1968:  On Monday, July 1, 1968, at 10:30 o'clock a.m., Louise Grillot, wife of the late Samson J. Pitre Sr., mother of Samson J. Jr., and Earl Pitre and the late Mrs. Barbara Wood.  Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, age 79 years, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a resident of Harahan for the past 6 years.  Private funeral.  Services were held from the Schoen Funeral Home of Jefferson, Inc., 2310 Hickory Avenue at Sauve Road on Tuesday, July 2, 1968, at 9:00 o'clock a.m. with Requiem Mass at St. Matthew the Apostle Church.  Interment in St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery.

Barbara Agnes Pitre:  Huntsville Times (Huntsville, AL), Thursday, 20 September 1962:  A funeral for Mrs. Barbara Agnes Pitree Wood, 43, of 1212 Owens Drive, SE, who died Tuesday night at Huntsville Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Catholic Church of the Visitation, with Rev. Timothy Hill officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Survivors include her husband, Memnon Wood; two daughters, Dallas Ann Wood and Holly Marie Wood; two sons, Craft Stephen Wood and Forrest Wood; her mother, Mrs. Louise Pitree; a brother, Sampson J. Pitree Jr., all of Huntsville.  A rosary service will be at Laughlin-Service Funeral Home at 8 tonight.

Earl Leo John Pitre:  Sun Herald (Gulfport, MS), 11 February 1999:  Earl L. J. Pitre died at his home in Gulfport on February 10, 1999, at the age of 76.  Mr. Pitre was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1922 where he was raised and educated through high school.  Mr. Pitre attended Louisiana State University from which he obtained a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration.  Mr. Pitre served in the European Theatre of Operations in Italy during World War 11.  He was separated from the service as a First Lieutenant in the Army.  He retired as a Lt. Colonel from the Army Reserves in 1982.  Mr. Pitre moved to Gulfport in 1955 opening Pitre Tire and Supply.  He owned several businesses and was an oil jobber for Citgo Petroleum and Union Oil Company.  He was a vice president for Key Petroleum.  He was active in St. John Catholic Church having served as president of the Parrish Council and president of St. Vincent de Paul Society.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Gulfport, Elks Club and the Gulfport Yacht Club.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Samson and Louise Pitre; a brother, S.J. Pitre; a sister, Barbara Wood; and a grandson, Elliot Pitre.  Survivors include his wife, Peggy Pitre and children, Michelle Pitre of Middletown, CA, Michael Pitre and his wife, Eileen and their children, Jason and Shayna of Mandeville, LA, Steven Pitre and his wife, Libby, and their children, Anne Pitre, Jennifer Vogel, and Valerie Thorpe and her four children, all of Gulfport, Denise Galloway and her husband, Ben, and their daughters, Laura and Hannah all of Gulfport, and Camille Stein and her husband, Doug, of Gulfport.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Riemann Funeral Home, 25th Avenue, Gulfport, with recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John Catholic Church on 25th Avenue in Gulfport with burial to follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Gulfport.  The family prefers memorials to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. John Catholic Church, 2414 17th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501 or a charity of one's choice.
