Obituary: Beaumont Journal (TX), Monday, 26 September 1960: Port Arthur - Funeral rites will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. James Catholic Church for Dr. Roy Pitre, 50, of 3720 Seventh, health officer for South Jefferson County. Dr. Pitre died early Sunday in St. Mary's Hospital here after a 16 month illness. Burial was to be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Nunnelly-Stanley Funeral Home chapel. Dr. Pitre, who had been health officer since 1947, had lived in Port Arthur 45 years. A native of Baldwin, La., Dr. Pitre received his BS degree from St. Edwards Clinic at Austin in 1932, and graduated in 1937 from Texas Medical College at Galveston. Following internship at a Dayton, Ohio hospital, Dr. Pitre practiced medicine here. Entering military service in 1941, Dr. Pitre returned to Port Arthur in 1946. Surviving are his wife; sons, Jim and John of Port Arthur, sister, Mrs. Ruby Goodwin of Nederland; parents; Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Pitre of Port Arthur, and grandmother, Mrs. T. Dumesnil of Houston.

Obituary: Beaumont Journal (TX), Friday, 13 October 1978: Port Arthur - Funeral for Maude Rodgers Pitre, 62, of 5298 15th St., was to be at 2 p.m. today at the Nunnelly-Stanley-Stickley Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. She died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at her home. A native of Woodville, Miss., she had lived in Port Arthur all her life. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. H. P. Wright of Groves; two sons, Jim Pitre of Houma, La., and John Pitre of Houston; a brother, Malcolm Rodgers of Houston.
