Obituary: Telegram & Gazette (Worcester, MA), 16 December 1993: Fitchburg - Robert H. "Buster" Pitre, 71, of 360 Canton St., died yesterday in Leominster Hospital after an illness. He leaves his wife of 28 years, Rosina (Hobbs) Pitre of Fitchburg; a son, Robert H. Pitre Jr. of Leominster; three stepdaughters, Linda Ford and Bonnie Bissell, both of Ayer, and Cherrie Case in Australia; a brother, Leo T. Pitre of Leominster; a sister, Claire Mailloux of Fitchburg; a grandson; three step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Barbara Barrett of Fitchburg. His first wife, Margaret (Hawkins) Pitre, died in 1963. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Herve O. and Beatrice (Gauthier) Pitre, and lived here all his life. He was a 1941 graduate of Fitchburg High School, where he was an outstanding football player and co-captain of the football team. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Mr. Pitre was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Bernard's Church. The funeral will be held tomorrow from Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 228 Water St. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, Waltham or left at the funeral home.

Mrs. Petrie was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Asa Hawkins of Vergennes. She leaves her husband, Robert and a son, Robert Jr.; a brother, William and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Saturday morning in Fitchburg.

She leaves three daughters, Bonnie Bissell of Holden, Cheryle Case in Australia and Lynda Ford of Ayer; a stepson, Robert Pitre of Leominster; a brother, Walter "Skip" Hobbs in Michigan; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was born in Leominster, daughter of Abednigo and Lily (Thomas) Hobbs. Mrs. Pitre was a nurse at Burbank Hospital in Fitchburg for 20 years before her retirement. She loved gardening and playing the piano. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fitchburg. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
