MISC:  The Post Star, Glens Falls, Thursday, 27 April 1944:  Pfc. Ralph H. Peters has returned to his base at Camp Pickett, Va., after spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Peters, Spring Street.

- The Post Star, Glens Falls, Thursday, 19 April 1945:  (photo of Ralph)  Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Peters, 21 Spring Street, have received a card from their son, Pfc. Ralph H. Peters, who was reported missing in action Jan. 20, that he is in a German prison camp and in good health.  The card was written in French, but was signed by Pfc. Peters.  Pfc. Peters was inducted Jan. 9, 1943, and trained at Camp Butner, N.C., Camp Pickett, Va., and Fort George G. Meade, Md.  He went overseas in May, 1943.  He was wounded in action in France on Nov. 17, 1944.  His brother, Pfc. Leon J. Peters, is serving with the Fifth Army in Italy.

 

Obituary:  The Post Star (Glens Falls, NY), Wednesday, 22 January 1997:  Moreau - Ralph Henry Peters, 73, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at his home, after a long illness.  Born Nov. 11, 1923 in Whitehall, he was the son of Henry and Grace (McGuffin) Peters.  Mr. Peters was a carpenter, and was employed by the Duplex Construction Company.  He was a member of Carpenters Local #229 for 54 years.  He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, where he received the Purple Heart and he was a prisoner of war.  Mr. Peters was a member of the Moreau Senior Citizens Center, V.F.W. Post 6169, Queensbury.  He was a New York Giants fan, loved super modified car races and was an avid card player.  Survivors include his wife, Marion Peters of Moreau; three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Harriet) Atiyeh of Glens Falls, Mrs. Michael (Irene) Magee of Glens Falls and Mrs. James (Grace) Cotton of South Glens Falls; four sons, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Peters of Glens Falls; Gary Cleveland of Queensbury, Dennis Cleveland of New Jersey and William Cleveland of Calif.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; a brother, Leon Peters of Glens Falls; three sisters, Theresa Davis and Justin Weller, both of Glens Falls and Joyce Normandin of Hudson Falls.  A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the VFW, Queensbury, by Phil Alan, business agent for Local 229.  Donations may be made to the Hospice of Warren County, Glens Falls, NY.  Arrangements are under the direction of Sullivan, Minahan & Potter Funeral Home, Queensbury.

Obituary:  The Saratogian (Saratoga Springs, NY), Friday 17 September 1971:  Mrs. Elmira Peters, 53, of 9 Spring St., died Thursday morning in Glens Falls Hospital.  The wife of Ralph Peters, she was a native of Peru.  Surviving, besides her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Carl N. Atiyeh of Glens Falls and Mrs. Ernest W. Bessette of Fort Edward; a son, Jeffrey Lee, of Glens Falls; two grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Everett Hunt, Mrs. Samuel Blowers, Mrs. Mary Bombard, Mrs. Hughlan Whitmore Sr. and Mrs. Fred Shortsleeves, all of Glens Falls; a brother George Duprey of Glens Falls; and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church.  Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Sullivan and Minahan Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Obituary:  The Post Star (Glens Falls, NY), Tuesday, 25 November 2008: (photo) South Glens Falls - Marion Peters, 76, of South Glens Falls, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008.  She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Aug. 20, 1932.  Marion had many interests.  She enjoyed the many years that she spent working at Sam's Diner, but she will be most notably remembered for her generous spirit.  Marion loved searching for antique china, cooking, celebrations, reading cards and tea leaves, and adopting strays, but nothing brought her more joy than her family.  Her husband, Ralph Peters, predeceases her.  She is survived by her three brothers; four beloved children and two grandchildren.  A special thank you goes to the staff at the Eddy Ford Nursing Home for their compassion and care.  A celebration will be held in honor of her life at her daughter's home.  Donations can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Queensbury, NY or The American Diabetes Association, Albany, NY.  A poem for you...In your light, I learn how to love, In your beauty, how to make poems. Harriet Joan Duprey:  Unlikely that Harriet is the child of Ralph as he would have been 11 at the time of her birth, but she is raised in the Peters household as a daughter.

- Baker Funeral Home, Queensbury, NY:  Glens Falls, NY - Harriet J. Atiyeh, 86, passed away peacefully, on Monday, June 7, 2021 at her home.  Born February 19, 1935 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Elmira (Duprey) and Ralph Peters.  In addition to her parents, Harriet was predeceased by the love of her life, Carl R. Atiyeh; her beloved doxie, Penney; baby brother, Jeffrey L. Peters; and nephew, Kenneth L. Bessette.  Those left to cherish her memory are her adored doxie, Cash; sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Jim Colton, who cared for her these last few years; niece, Barbara Humburg and her children, Dalton and Kayne; sister-in-law, Diane Peters and her children, Loorie and Mike; also several cousins.

Jeffrey Lee PetersThe Post Star (Glens Falls, NY), Wednesday, 27 May 2009:  (photo)  Glens Falls - Jeffrey L. Peters, 54, of Glens Falls passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 25, 2009.  He was born Sept. 20, 1954, in Glens Falls, the son of the late Ralph and Elmira (DuPrey) Peters.  He was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church, Glens Falls.  Jeff was a veteran serving with the U.S. Navy.  He retired from C. R. Bard in 2004, after several years of dedicated service.  Known as the Master Fisherman, he loved hunting and fishing.  He enjoyed playing the guitar and was involved in all his children's activities from tee ball to Greenjacket Football, to his daughter's many dance recitals and Girl Scout activities.  Jeff continued attending these events with his grandchildren.  He was a true family man.  On Oct. 27, 1972, he married his best friend, Diane (Hart) Peters.  They enjoyed 36 years of loving marriage.  Besides his parents, an infant son, Robert R. Peters, his mother-in-law, whom he loved like his own mom, Alice Hart, and a brother, Robert Hart, all predeceased him.  Survivors besides his loving wife, Diane, of Glens Falls, include his children, Lorrie Peters Corkern and Michael Peters; his granddaughter (his little princess), Lauren Corkern; and his four grandsons, Johnnie, Jake Corkern, Jameson Bouchard and Justice Peters.  Also surviving Jeff are his sisters and brothers: Sally and Tom Stevens, Patsy Jaquish, Nancy and Walter Marvin, Rose and Ralph Wenzel, Leona Kordziel, Sharon and Bob Hunt, Ginger Tullock, Judy Hart, Steve and Janice Hart, Scot and Michelle Hart, Harriet Atiyeh, and Grace and Jim Colton; and many nieces and nephews.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009, at St. Alphonsus Church, Glens Falls, with burial to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.  Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Sullivan, Minahan and Potter Funeral Home, Queensbury.
