Obituary:  The Post Star (Glens Falls, NY), Saturday, 9 December 1967:  Henry J. Peters, 78, 25 Bush St., died Friday at 9 a.m. in Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.  He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church and was formerly employed by the Duplex Construction Co. of Glens Falls.  He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Joseph David, Mrs. Edward Weller and Mrs. James LaFarr, all of Glens Falls; three sons, Ralph and Leon Peters of Glens Falls and Reginald Peters of Salem, Mass.; one sister, Miss Irene Peters of Brooklyn, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 9 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Church.  Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Sullivan and Minahan Funeral Home, tonight from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Members of Carpenters Local Union, 229, will meet tonight at 7:30 at the funeral home to pay their respects.

- The Post Star, Glens Falls, Thursday, 27 April 1944:  Pfc. Ralph H. Peters has returned to his base at Camp Pickett, Va., after spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Peters, Spring Street.

- The Post Star, Glens Falls, Thursday, 19 April 1945:  (photo of Ralph)  Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Peters, 21 Spring Street, have received a card from their son, Pfc. Ralph H. Peters, who was reported missing in action Jan. 20, that he is in a German prison camp and in good health.  The card was written in French, but was signed by Pfc. Peters.  Pfc. Peters was inducted Jan. 9, 1943, and trained at Camp Butner, N.C., Camp Pickett, Va., and Fort George G. Meade, Md.  He went overseas in May, 1943.  He was wounded in action in France on Nov. 17, 1944.  His brother, Pfc. Leon J. Peters, is serving with the Fifth Army in Italy.

Obituary:  The Post Star (Glens Falls, NY), Friday, 17 August 1962:  Mrs. Grace H. Peters, 60, wife of Henry J. Peters, was taken ill at her home, 19 Bush St., and was pronounced dead on arrival at Glens Falls Hospital Thursday at 9:30 a.m.  She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church.  Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Joseph C. David, Mrs. Edward A. Weller and Mrs. James LaFarr, all of Glens Falls; two sons, Ralph H. and Leon J. Peters, both of Glens Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Corlew of Glens Falls and Mrs. May Holman of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Andrew D. McGuffin of Glens Falls and Floyd McGuffin of Cornwall on the Hudson, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Church.  Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Sullivan and Minahan Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Ralph Henry Peters:  The Post Star (Glens Falls, NY), Wednesday, 22 January 1997:  Moreau - Ralph Henry Peters, 73, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at his home, after a long illness.  Born Nov. 11, 1923 in Whitehall, he was the son of Henry and Grace (McGuffin) Peters.  Mr. Peters was a carpenter, and was employed by the Duplex Construction Company.  He was a member of Carpenters Local #229 for 54 years.  He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, where he received the Purple Heart and he was a prisoner of war.  Mr. Peters was a member of the Moreau Senior Citizens Center, V.F.W. Post 6169, Queensbury.  He was a New York Giants fan, loved super modified car races and was an avid card player.  Survivors include his wife, Marion Peters of Moreau; three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Harriet) Atiyeh of Glens Falls, Mrs. Michael (Irene) Magee of Glens Falls and Mrs. James (Grace) Cotton of South Glens Falls; four sons, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Peters of Glens Falls; Gary Cleveland of Queensbury, Dennis Cleveland of New Jersey and William Cleveland of Calif.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; a brother, Leon Peters of Glens Falls; three sisters, Theresa Davis and Justin Weller, both of Glens Falls and Joyce Normandin of Hudson Falls.  A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the VFW, Queensbury, by Phil Alan, business agent for Local 229.  Donations may be made to the Hospice of Warren County, Glens Falls, NY.  Arrangements are under the direction of Sullivan, Minahan & Potter Funeral Home, Queensbury.

 

Leon Joseph Peters:  The Post Star (Glens Falls, NY), Thursday, 21 August 2003:  (photo)  Glens Falls - Leon Joseph Peters, 78, passed away on Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at Hallmark Nursing Center, Queensbury.  Born on April 7, 1925, in Hawley, Pa., he was the son of the late Henry J. and Grace (McGuffin) Peters.  Leon was a decorated Army veteran of World War II, having served in the North-African Theatre.  He was a well-known and respected carpenter who worked out of local 229 until he retired in 1990.  Leon was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed rooting for his grandchildren on their various teams.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Reginald H. Peters and Ralph H. Peters; and his sister, Theresa Davis.  Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Mary (Mingo) Peters of Glens Falls; four children, Terry Peters and his wife, Becky of South Glens Falls, Reginald Peters and his wife Marjorie of Fort Edward, Cindy Baker and her husband, Timothy of Glens Falls, Timothy Peters and his wife, Lafalla of Queensbury; two sisters, Justine Weller of Glens Falls, and Joyce Norminton of Queensbury; six grandchildren, Matthew Peters of Chestertown, Crystal Peters of South Glens Falls, Derek Peters of Hudson Falls, Brianna Peters of Queensbury, Adam and Nathan Baker of Glens Falls; three step-grandchildren, Chris Isaac of Queensbury, Daniel Isaac of Whitter, Calif., and David Briseno of Beverly Hills, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at St. Alphonsus Church on Broad Street, in Glens Falls.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Family and friends may call from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003 at Singleton-Healy Funeral Home, Queensbury.

Teresa Emily Peters:  The Post Star (Glens Falls, NY), Wednesday, 16 April 2003:  (photo) Glens Falls - Teresa Peters Davis, 76, of Glens Falls passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at her home surrounded by loved ones after a long illness.  Born Jan. 5, 1927, she was the daughter of Henry and Grace (McGuggin) Peters.  She married Joseph C. Davis on Sept. 29, 1946.  They were married for 45 years before Joseph passed away in 1991.  Teresa worked for J & J Lingerie on Elm Street for many years.  She also worked as a chef and the Harvest and Haufbreau House before retiring from Warren Washington ARC.  Teresa loved country music, dancing, watching the Yankees and spending time with her two grandsons, Shane and Robby Reynolds.  Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Peters.  Survivors include Robert Nichols, her loving companion of 12 years; her daughter, Michele Reynolds, and her husband, Robert, of South Glens Falls; her brother, Leon Peters, and his wife, Mary, of Glens Falls; two sisters, Justeen Weller and her husband, Edward, of Glens Falls and Joyce Normandin of Whitehall; two grandsons, Shane and Robert Reynolds, both of South Glens Falls, and several nieces and nephews.  A Memorial service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2003 at Church of Christ, with the Rev. Logan Robberson, officiating.  Fellowship gathering will follow the service at church.  The family suggest donations be made to High Peaks Hospice of Warren County Foundation, Glens Falls, NY or a church of one's choice.  Arrangements are under the direction of Sullivan-Minahan & Potter Funeral Home, Queensbury.

 

Joyce Lorraine Peters:  The Post Star (Glens Falls, NY), Thursday, 9 June 2005:  Joyce L. (Peters) Normandin (photo)  Queensbury - Joyce L. (Peters) Normandin, 72, of Queensbury, passed away Monday, June 6, 2005, at Ellis Hospital.  She was born in Glens Falls on Aug. 15, 1932, the daughter of the late Henry and Grace (McGuffin) Peters.  Joyce retired after many years from Astro Valcor in Glens Falls.  She also worked as a bartender for Buck and Mike's for several years.  Joyce's loves were to go shopping, doing crafts, she loved her poodle, "Coco," and spending time with her family and friends.  She was predeceased not only by her parents but her brothers, Leon and Ralph Peters, and her sister, Teresa Davis.  Joyce is survived by her sister, Justine Weller and her husband, Edward, of Glens Falls, along with several nieces and nephews.  Her close friend, Edward Benway, of Whitehall, and Dawn Bishop and her family of Hudson Falls also survives her.  At Joyce's request, no calling hours will be held.  A graveside service will be held Monday, June 13, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Queensbury.  Arrangements are under the direction of Singleton, Healy Funeral Home, Queensbury.
