Obituary: Portland Press Herald (ME), Tuesday, 1 October 1996 - Raymond E. Peters Worked at Baxter School for the Deaf - Raymond E. Peters, 74, formerly of 425 Broadway died Sunday at a local nursing home after a long illness. He was born in Westbrook, a son of Thomas and Minnie Degou Peters, and attended Westbrook schools. During World War II, Mr. Peters served with the Army in the Philippines. For more than 30 years he was employed by Governor Baxter School for the Deaf, and the Sportsman's Grill in Portland. He retired in 1987. Mr. Peters was a communicant of Holy Cross Church. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Bertha Demers Peters; three daughters, Judith A. Thibeault of Coral Springs, Fla., Patricia E. Peters of Westbrook and Andrea M. Bartnick of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; four sons, Thomas C., R. Scott and Russell E., all of Portland, and Richard L. of South Portland; a brother, Ernest of Oregon; and 10 grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Church. Arrangements by Conroy-Tully South Portland Chapel.

Obituary: November 6, 1925 ~ November 14, 2021 (age 96): South Portland - Bertha Helen Demers Peters, 96, passed away on November 14, 2021 at her home in South Portland with family by her side. Bertha was born on November 6, 1925, in Westbrook, Maine to Cleophas and Marie L. (Francoeur) Demers and attended Westbrook schools. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond E. Peters, her son Roger (Scott) Peters, and grandson Calvin Lee Peters. She is remembered and survived by her children, Judith Thibeault of Tamarac Florida, Thomas (Maureen) Peters of Portland, Patricia Peters of Portland, Richard (Mary) Peters of Scarborough, Andrea (Robert) Bartnick of Scarborough, and Russell Peters of Portland. She will be sadly missed and loved by her 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. There will be a memorial service on November 24, 2021 at 10 AM at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland.

He was born on April 12, 1961, in Portland, the son of Raymond Edward and Bertha Helen Demers Peters. He was a graduate of Portland High School. Roger loved to play music with all of his friends. He had quite a collection of instruments. He also enjoyed mountain biking. He worked for many years for Cianbro Construction and later for Maine Artificial Limb in Portland. He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Peters; and his son, Calvin Peters in 2006. He is survived by his former wife, Julie Seavey of South Portland; his mother, Bertha Peters of South Portland; three sisters, Judith Thibault of Florida, Patricia Peters of Portland and Andrea Bartnick of New York, three brothers, Thomas Peters of Portland, Richard Peters of Scarborough and Russell Peters of Portland. Visiting hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, May 19, at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, Portland, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger's memory may be made to Catholic Charities of Maine, Portland, Maine.
