Obituary: New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung (New Braunfels, TX), Sunday, 11 May 1997: Raymond C. Petrie died on Friday, May 9, 1997, at the age of 73 years. Mr. Petrie was born December 20, 1923 in Orono, Maine to James Alexander Petrie and Emma Mary LeBlanc. He married Agnes Petrie on December 29, 1947 in Arlington, Virginia. Mr. Petrie was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Franklin aircraft carrier. He was a New Braunfels resident for 15 years and had been a postmaster. Mr. Petrie attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and was a member of American Legion Post No. 0179, Disabled Veterans No. 163, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7110, Knights of Columbus No. 4183 and HAM Radio Operator No. KB5GST. He loved music and was a musician himself. Mr. Petrie is survived by his wife, Agnes Petrie of New Braunfels; children, Joseph Raymond Petrie, Los Angeles, Ca, James Patrick Petrie and wife Cathy of New Braunfels, John Gerard Petrie and wife Julie of Baytown, TX, Agnes Ann Hejtmanek and husband Frank of Pasadena, TX, Rosemary Therese Gray and husband Mitchel of Cedar Hill, TX, Matthew Paul Petrie and wife Nanette of Grapevine, TX, and Alexis Marie Bagby and husband Roy of Virginia Beach, VA; seventeen grandchildren; one brother, Ted Petrie of Angleton, TX; and one sister-in-law, Sister M. Matthew, RSM of Brookhaven, MS. Visitation will begin today at 5 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m. Monday. The family will be at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home to greet visitors today from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A rosary will be recited Monday at 7 p.m. at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Chapel. The funeral mass will be held Tuesday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Eugene O'Callaghan officiating. Interment will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Sts. Peter and Paul Building Fund or to Hospice New Braunfels.

Obituary: Daytona Beach News-Journal (FL), Friday, 20 January 2006: Memorial service for Leona "Lee" Knight Colby, Ormond Beach, who died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at Ormond Beach Union Church, with the Rev. Charles D. Melvin officiating. Born Sept. 30, 1921, "Lee," a U.S. Navy WAVE veteran of World War II, was a native of Conton, N.Y.. and grew up in New Jersey. After being discharged from the Navy, she worked as the secretary to the president of the Williams C. Moore Company, Newark, N.Y. She moved to Ormond Beach from Newark in 1955 with her husband and son. She was a member of Ormond Beach Union Church, American Legion Post 110, Port Charlotte, and Cassin Young American Legion Post 267, Ormond Beach. She was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling, card games, cooking, knitting and sewing. Mrs. Colby was very active at Ormond Beach Union Church. She participated in Sunday school Bible study classes, and served terms as president, vice-president and secretary of the congregation. She also was past president of the OBUC Women's Christian Fellowship and was on the church board of trustees. She volunteered at the church thrift shop and helped during Pancake Day events. She was a past editor of the church Epistle newsletter. Survivors include her son, Craig; daughter-in-law, Romana; and three grandchildren, Christine, Michael and Michelle. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona.

Should friends desire, memorials may be given to VITAS Hospice Charitable Fund, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Agnes was born Aug. 24, 1922, in Philadelphia, Miss., to Joseph and Agnes McCloskey. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Agnes loved spending time with her family, cooking, traveling and shopping. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Agnes was the widow of Raymond Clarence Petrie. Survivors: children, Joseph Petrie of Houston, Jimmy Petrie and wife, Cathy, of New Braunfels, Johnny Petrie and wife, Julie, of Mont Belvieu, Agnes Hejtmanek and husband, Frank, of Pasadena, Rosemary Gray of Humble, Matt Petrie and wife, Nanette, of Grapevine and Alexis Bagby of Salt Lake City, Utah; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
