Obituary:  Dorchester Star (Cambridge, MD), Friday, 11 April 2014:  Cambridge - Roland C. Pete Sr., 86, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2014 at Mallard Bay Care Center.  He was born in Brattleboro, Vt. May 1, 1927, a son of the late Tuffield F. and Gertrude Seymour Pete.  Mr. Pete attended schools in Cambridge.  He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from July of 1947 until he was honorably discharged in July of 1952.  March 5, 1949, he married the former Betty Bradford.  Mr. Pete was employed at Choptank Electric until he retired in 1991.  He enjoyed watching television and gardening.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years Betty Pete of Cambridge, son Roland Pete Jr. and wife Susan of East New Market, daughters Katherine Truitt and husband Joe and Karen Phillips and husband Eddie, all of Cambridge and LaVerne Bell and husband Danny of East New Market; ten grandchildren - Sheila Hickman, Cheryl Abrams, Kimberly Jones, Crystal Pete, Dawn Gootee, Jenny Jones, Ashley Robinson, Tuffy Bell, Shane Pete and Scotty Pete; 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Sons Steve Pete and Ronald Pete are deceased, as are brothers Edward Pete, Eugene Pete and Albert 'Art' Pete and sisters Anita Parker, Theresa Dawidowicz and Florence King.  Pallbearers will be Joe Truitt, Danny Bell, Eddie Phillips, Billy Short, Woody Washburn and Mike Hickman.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. A. Delmer Willey Jr. and Rev. Larry Wroten officiating.  Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.  Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions can be made to the United Peoples Church, Church Creek, MD or to the Chateau Community Church, Linkwood, MD.

Obituary:  The Star Democrat (Easton, MD), Thursday, 29 July 2021:  Cambridge - Betty L. Pete, 89, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at UNSMC at Easton.  She was born in Church Creek on October 17, 1931 and was a daughter of the late Ray and Lenora Willey Bradford.  Mrs. Pete attended schools in Church Creek.  On March 5, 1949, she married Roland C. Pete, who passed away on April 2, 2014.  She was a house wife and later worked at Bambricks as a clerk.  Mrs. Pete enjoyed ceramics, puzzles, and crossword puzzles.  She was a member of Chateau Community Church.  She is survived by a son Roland Pete, Jr. and wife Susan of East New Market, two daughters Kathy Truitt of Cambridge, and Vernie Bell and husband Danny of East New Market, 11 grandchildren Sheila Hickman, Cheryl Abrams, Kimberly Jones, Crystal Pete, Dawn Gootee, Jenny Jones, Ashley Robinson, Stephanie Bryan, Tuffy Bell, Shane Pete and Scotty Pete, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, two sisters Edie Bryant of Cambridge and Barbie Mills of Cambridge, a brother Roy Robinson and wife Donna of Church Creek, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Pete is preceded in death by two sons Steve Pete and Ronald Pete, a daughter Karen Phillips and a son-in-law Joe Truitt.  Pallbearers will be Tucker Hickman, Tanner Hickman, Luke Gootee, Caden Jones, Coen Bell, Bobby Gootee and Scott Jones.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. with Rev.'s Larry Wroten and Mark Massey officiating.  Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Chateau Community Church, Linkwood, MD.

Karen Lee Pete:  Sunday Star (Easton, MD), Sunday, 29 January 2017:  Cambridge - Karen L. Phillips, 64, of Cambridge, Md., passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at her home surrounded by those nearest to her heart.  She was born in Cambridge on March 26, 1952, and was the daughter of Betty L. Pete and the late Roland C. Pete Sr.  She graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1970 and Delmarva Beauty Academy.  On July 4, 1969, she married Edward L. Phillips.  During the late '70s-'80s she was an administrative secretary for the CEO of Cambridge Wire Cloth.  For the last 15 years, she has operated her own cleaning service.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing, traveling and laughing with family and friends.  Her true passion was spending time with her two grandsons and did so at every opportunity.  She is survived by Eddie, her husband of 47 years; a daughter, Ashley Robinson and husband, Gibby; two beloved grandsons, Gibby and Brice; her mother, Betty Pete; a special brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Susan Pete; two sisters; numerous nieces and nephews; several aunts and an uncle; as well as many close friends.  Her father and two brothers, Ronald Pete and Steve Pete, precede her in death.  A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 31, 7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home P.A. in Cambridge, with Rev. David Jones officiating.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Coastal Hospice Foundation, Salisbury, MD.

 

Ronald Joseph Pete:  The Banner (Cambridge, MD), Wednesday, 11 December 2013:  Cambridge - Ronald J. "Ronnie" Pete, of East New Market, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 at his home.  He was born in Cambridge on July 22, 1953 and was a son of Roland Pete, Sr. and Betty Bradford Pete.  Ronnie graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1971.  He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, where he was a tone missile repairman.  Ronnie received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Expert Badge M-16.  On March 7, 1974, he married the former Wilma Stultz.  He was employed with Cadmus Communications in Easton until his health started to fail.  He enjoyed fishing, landscaping, woodworking and camping.  He is survived by his wife, Wilma Pete of East New Market; two sons, Michael "Shane" Pete and wife, Megan, of Laurel, Del., and Scott Pete and fiancée, Heather Salyers, of East New Market; a granddaughter that he was raising as a daughter, Alexis Pete of East New Market; five grandchildren, Madison Pete, Colby Pete, Cameron Pete, Carter Pete and Ethan Hoyle; brother, Roland Pete, Jr. and wife, Susan, of East New Market; three sisters, Katherine Truitt and husband, Joe, of Cambridge, Karen Phillips and husband, Eddie, of Cambridge, and LaVerne Bell and husband, Danny, of East New Market; and several nieces and nephews.  Ronnie is preceded in death by a brother, Steve Pete.  Pallbearers will be Paul Douglas, Kemper Cave, Scott Pete, Michael Pete, Timmy Stultz and Keith Richardson.  A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Steve Alan Pete:  The Star Democrat (Easton, MD), Thursday, 10 September 1981:  Linkwood - Steve Alan Pete, of Linkwood, died Tuesday, Sept. 8 at University Hospital in Baltimore.  His death was the result of injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident on Aug. 29.  He was 21.  Born in Cambridge on Oct. 25, 1959, he was the son of Roland C. and Betty Lee Bradford Pete.  He was a 1977 graduate of S.S. Peter and Paul High School in Easton.  On July 14, 1979, he was married to the former Angelina Giordano and for the past 14 months, he had been employed by Airpax Electronics in Cambridge.  He is survived by his wife, his parents, who reside in Cambridge, a maternal grandmother, Lenora Robinson, of Cambridge; three sisters, Katherine Truitt and Karen Phillips, both of Cambridge and LaVerne Bell, of East New Market; two brothers, Roland C. Pete Jr. of East New Market and Ronald J. Pete of Aireys.  Also surviving are six nieces, two nephews, four uncles and seven aunts.  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Thomas Funeral Home, Cambridge, by the Rev. J. Edwin Pippin.  Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday between 7:30 and 9 p.m.
