Obituary:  The Liberty Vindicator (TX), Thursday, 15 June 1961:  Funeral services for Roy A. Pitre, 54, were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. J.R. Breland, Galveston, officiating, assisted by Rev. Roland Jones, pastor of the church.  Graveside Masonic rites were held at Fairlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements were directed by Allison Funeral Service.  Mr. Pitre died suddenly about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, in Nacogdoches after suffering a heart attack.  A native of Thicket, Texas, he had been a resident of Liberty for 33 years, was a member and deacon in the First Baptist Church, a member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge and a veteran of World War II.  He was a salesman for the Jewel Electric Products Co.  He is survived by his wife, Mildred Pitre and mother, Mrs. R.D. Pitre, Sr., both of Liberty; a son, Jack Loftin of Seminole; two brothers, R.D. Pitre of Morgan City, La., and Leo Pitre of Raywood; two sisters, Mrs. Douglas Shell, Liberty, and Mrs. M.M. Flournoy, Huntington and four grandchildren.  Pallbearers were L.T. Brookshire, Sam Bass, Cecil Tate, Ed Minter, Lloyd Blake, Bill Griffin, Albert Reid and Sylvis Long.  Honorary pallbearers were the board of deacons of the First Baptist Church.
