Obituary:  Times-Picayune (New Orleans), 6 December 2011:  Robert Anthony Pitre, Sr., born August 21, 1915, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2011, at age 96.  Beloved husband of Christine Meeks.  Loving father of Charley G. Pitre, Robert A. Pitre, Jr., and Dan E. Pitre.  He is also survived by a host of loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  A native of New Orleans; resident of Kenner for 47 years and a resident of River Ridge for the past 24 years.  Preceded in death by parents: Mercedes Smith and Lovelace Pitre; two sisters: Beulah Baylot and Bessie Collins; and beloved grandson, Charles "Bubba" Pitre.  Devoted member of Harahan and River Ridge Lions Club.  President of Louisiana Lions League for Crippled Children 1983-84.  Recipient of Lions International Foundation Melvin Jones award.  Owner of R. A. Pitre, Sr. Insurance Agency in Kenner and River Ridge, La.  Honorably served his country as a U.S. Army veteran of WW II.  Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Resurrection, Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, St. Rose, La., followed by a Graveside Service.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Louisiana Lions League for Crippled Children Foundation, Leesville, La.  Tharp-Sontheimer Funeral Home of Metairie.

Obituary:  The Times-Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Wednesday, 24 December 2014:  Lula Christine "Chris" Pitre, age 93, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 in Abbeville, AL.  She was a resident of Kenner and River Ridge for over 70 years.  Wife of the late Robert A. Pitre, Sr.  Loving mother of Charley G. Pitre (Gail), Robert A. Pitre, Jr. (Adrian) and Danny E. Pitre (Mona).  Grandmother of Gary Pitre and Sandra Ross, Robert A. Pitre III and Scott Henry Pitre; Deanna Pitre and Marie Pitre, and the late Charles "Bubba" Pitre.  Also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Sister of Willie Mae Reitzell and Hope Meeks.  Daughter of the late Charlie Lucas Meeks and Ruth Burford.  Chris was a devoted member of Harahan and River Ridge Lions Clubs and work tirelessly on behalf of crippled children, serving as president of the Lioness division of the organization.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services from the Metairie home of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 12:30 PM.  The Rev. Daniel Flanagan will officiate.  Interment in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose, LA.  Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Lions League for Crippled Children Foundation, Leesville, LA.
