Obituary: Quincy Patriot Ledger (Quincy, MA), Wednesday, 10 September 1947: Rockland, Sept. 10 - Funeral services for Poss Peters who died Saturday evening at his home, 37 Division street, Rockland, were held yesterday morning from the late residence followed by a requiem high mass at the Church of the Holy Family. Rev. Fr. Hartnett of the Holy Cross church, Boston, was celebrant. Organist was Charles Morgan and soloist, Horace McCarthy. Burial was in the Holy Family cemetery, Rockland, where committal prayers were read by Rev. John Foggarty of the Church of the Holy Family. Bearers included Donald Thibeault, Thomas Pittsley, Thomas Henderson, Gerald Bezanson, Joseph Kelliher, Robert Stringer. Mr. Peters was the husband of the late Mrs. Mary J. (Kelley) Peters, and leaves a son, Joseph Peters; four daughters, Mrs. Betty Thibeault, Mrs. Madeline Shea of Rockland, Mrs. Alyce Condon of Brockton, Mrs. Esther Crowley of Whitman; six grandchildren, one brother, Zebulon Peters of Rockland; a sister, Miss Judith Peters of Canada and a niece.

Obituary: Quincy Patriot Ledger (Quincy, MA), Tuesday, 3 June 1941: Rockland, June 3 - Mrs. Mary J. (Sullivan) Peters, wife of Poss Peters of 37 Division street in this town, died last evening at her home following a long illness. A high mass of requiem will be celebrated in Church of the Holy Family Thursday morning at 9 o'clock. The funeral will be from the late home on Division street at 8:30 o'clock Thursday morning. Burial will be in Holy Family cemetery. Mrs. Peters, a native of Ireland, is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary Sullivan of Rockland, four daughters, Mrs. Madeline Shea, and Miss Betty Peters of Rockland, Mrs. Alice Condon of Brockton, and Mrs. Esther Crowley of Whitman; a son, Joseph Peters of Rockland; and a sister, Sister Manintha of St. Joseph's order in Jamaica Plain.

Madeline Seraphina Peters: Mrs. Madeline S. (Peters) Shea, 95, of Rockland died Sunday, March 21, 2004 in the Brockton Hospital after a short illness. The daughter of the late Poss and Mary J. (Kelly) Peters, she was born in Weymouth on August 12, 1908. She was raised, educated and a lifelong resident of Rockland. She was a retired Secretary, having been employed by the former E.T. Wright Shoe Company in Rockland. Mrs. Shea was a Member of the Holy Family Ladies Sodality, a Member of the Rockland American Legion Auxiliary, a Member of the Rockland Golden Agers and a Member of the AARP. Wife of the late Harold R. Shea, she is survived by 2 daughters, Pauline M. Downing of Rockland and Marilyn McAuliffe of East Providence RI, 2 sisters, Alice Condon of Brockton and Esther Crowley of Abington, 5 grandchildren, Nancy Karas of Cumberland RI, Paula Cieplik of Lakeville, Robert A. Downing of Cape Coral FL, Michael H. Downing and Lisa G. Chisholm, both of Rockland and 8 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Joseph Peters and the late Elizabeth Thibeault. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at 9 AM in Holy Family Church, Rockland. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Visiting Hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 41-45 East Water Street in Rockland on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.
