MISC: Courrier de Beauharnois (Beauharnois, QUE), 23 May 1878: Last Saturday, the lands of the late Pierre Lajambe were seized by the sheriff of this district and will be sold in a few months. They are mortgaged to the Metropolitan Construction Company for a sum of nearly $8,000. And to think that not even ten years ago, the late Pierre Lajambe was considered one of the wealthiest farmers in the parish of Beauharnois.
- La Patrie (Montreal, QUE), 13 April 1880: Mr. Kent, the official syndic of Montreal, recently bought from the Metropolitan Construction Company the land that used to belong to the Pierre Pitre dit Lajambe estate. Mrs. Pierre Lajambe, a widow, left Beauharnois last March 8th with her three sons and daughter to go to Crookstown, Minnesota.
Obituary: Le Courrier du Canada (Quebec City, QUE), 25 April 1877: Beauharnais - A sad event has just brought mourning to a family in the parish of St. Clement. Pierre Pitre, known as Lajambe, a local farmer, had been suffering from mental illness for 4 to 5 years. His family had particularly noticed during the last weeks of his life that his bouts of madness had become more violent. The periods during which his mind regained clarity were gradually becoming rarer. The poor unfortunate man almost constantly rambled. He had taken communion on Quasimodo Sunday and walked around his field and buildings saying he was looking for "his Savior." On Tuesday, the 17th, deceiving the vigilance of the people who were watching him, he returned to his stable. Worried about his absence, his father, an 80-year-old man, went out to look for him a few minutes later and found him hanging from a beam in the stable. He immediately called for help, and with the assistance of his little daughter, he managed to cut the fatal rope holding the unfortunate father; but it was too late, he had stopped breathing. Deputy Coroner Mr. Joseph Mayer conducted an investigation on the deceased's body. The jury returned a verdict of 'death by hanging following an episode of mental alienation.'
