Obituary:  Abbeville Meridional (Abbeville, LA), Wednesday, 28 November 1979:  Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church for Odon Pitre, 78, who died Tuesday at 1 a.m. at Abbeville General Hospital.  Burial was in the St. Paul Cemetery in Abbeville.  Survivors include his wife, the former Eta Mary English of Abbeville; one step-son, Hayden Mayeaux of Abbeville; two step-daughters, Mrs. N.A. Jeansonne of Ville Platte and Mrs. Willard Smith of Eufaul, Ala.; one brother, Sidney Pitre of New Orleans and one sister, Mrs. Evella Pierce of New Orleans; 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  Vincent Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Obituary:  The Marksville Weekly News and Cottonport Leader (LA), Thursday, 30 December 1999:  Baton Rouge - Services for Etta Mayeaux Pitre were at 10:00 a.m., Thurs., Dec. 16, 1999 in Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church with Father Craig Scott officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Escude Funeral Home, Cottonport.  Mrs. Pitre, 96, of Baton Rouge, died at 8:10 a.m., Tues., Dec. 14, 1999 at St. Mary Nursing and Rehab Center in Baton Rouge.  She was born May 24, 1903, a native of Plaucheville, daughter of Hayden and Celena Rabalais English.  Survivors include one son, Dr. Hayden Mayeaux of Abbeville; two daughters, Birdie Jeansonne of Baton Rouge and Myra Smith of Eufaula, AL; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.  Pallbearers were Paul, Luke and Maxwell Mayeaux, James, Brent and Ryan Jeansonne and Mark Smith.
