Obituary:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Thursday, 5 January 1967:  Noelville - Rev. Gerard Vachon officiated at Requiem High Mass for Napoleon Pitre of Noelville at St. David Roman Catholic Church in Noelville.  Mr. Pitre died at the Haileybury hospital following an illness of five years' duration.  He was 86 and was a pioneer of the Noelville area.  Pallbearers were: Roland Philion of Hanmer; Ronald St. Jean, Sudbury; Henri Guerin, Oscar Pitre, Claude Pitre and Rheaume Lachapelle all of Noelville.  Interment took place at Holy Angels Cemetery.  Born at Embrun, Ont., Mr. Pitre was educated there and his marriage to the former Marie Louise Hebert also took place at Embrun.  His wife predeceased him 25 years ago.  The couple took up residence at Noelville in 1905 and operated a farm for many years.  Mr. Pitre is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ovide Lefreniere (Aurore), Mrs. Leopold Petre (Yvonne), Ange Aimee, all of Mattawa, and Lucille of Ottawa; and two sons, Roland of Mattawa and Lionel of Noelville.  He was predeceased by a daughter and a son.  He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Moise Clement and Mrs. Josephine Nadon, Noelville, and one brother, Domina, at Sudbury.  There are 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Joseph Lionel Pitre:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Friday, 2 July 1976:  Noelville - A life long resident of Noelville, Lionel Pitre, died recently at the Extendicare Home, Sudbury, after a lengthy illness.  He was 69.  The funeral mass was celebrated at St. David Roman Catholic Church by Rev. Laurier Rondeau.  Mrs. Armand Bouffard sang and was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Denis Monette.  Interment was in the Parish Cemetery.  The Knights of Columbus formed a guard of honor in the church, with six members acting as pallbearers.  Mr. Pitre was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon Pitre.  Born and educated in Noelville, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and attended St. David Church.  Mr. Pitre is survived by his wife, Marie-Anne whom he married in Noelville; a son; two daughters, Mrs. Roland Phillion (Colette) of Hanmer and Mrs. Ronald St. Jean (Mona) of Sudbury; four sisters, Mrs. Aurore Lafreniere and Mrs. Yvonne Pitre of Mattawa, and Ange Aimee Pitre and Lucille Pitre of Ottawa; and six grandchildren.  Friends paid their respects at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Noelville.  The Sudbury Funeral Co-operative was in charge of all funeral arrangements.

Marie Aurore Pitre:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Friday, 22 July 2011:  Lafreniere, Aurore - decedee paisiblement le 21 juillet 2011 a l'age de 102 ans.  Veuve d'Ovide Lafreniere, Aurore (nee Pitre), mere de Roger Lafreniere (decede en 2009), grand-mere de Jean (NorthBay) et Jason (Vancouver), belle-mere de Judy (nee Bell) de NorthBay.  Elle est la soeur bien-aimee d'Yvonne Pitre (Sudbury) precedement de Mattawa.  Elle est predecedee de son petit-fils Steven comme de ses soeurs Annette (Guerin), Lucile et Ange-Aimee Pitre et de ses freres Lionel, William et Roland Pitre.  Elle laisse aussi dans le deuil ses nieces et neveux qui sauront continuer de l'admirer pour ses qualites notamment son grand sens de l'esthetique qui se manifestait dans tous les aspects de sa vie soit jardins de fleurs, couture, mode et cuisine.  Elle adorait ses voyages au Mexique, en Floride et meme a Rome.  Ovide et Aurore se voient accorder une audience privee aupres du pape.  Ce fut une des grandes joies de sa vie.  Aurore est nee a Embrun, fille de Napoleon Pitre et de Marie-Louise Hebert.  La famille demenage a Noelville et Aurore y passe sa jeunesse.  Elle marie Ovide Lafreniere, habite Noelville, Sturgeon Falls et Mattawa.  Elle demenage a North Bay pour y demeurer jusqu'a sa rentree au Foyer Algonquin a Mattawa.  Le Salon Funeraire Martyn & Sloan acceuillera les ami(e)e et famille lundi le 25 juillet de 14h a 16h et de 19h a 21h.  Une messe sera celebree mardi le 26 juillet a l'Eglise Ste-Anne de Mattawa.  Aurore sera enterree au cimetiere Ste-Anne de Mattawa.

Joseph Rolland Euclide Pitre:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Tuesday, 6 May 1997:  Pitre, Rolland - Of Mattawa.  Passed away at the Algonquin Nursing Home on Monday, May 5, 1997, in his 85th year.  He is survived by his sisters Aurore Lefreniere of North Bay, Yvonne Pitre of Mattawa, Lucille Pitre of Ottawa.  Predeceased by two sisters, Annette and Angeaimee and two brothers Lionel and Willie.  Friends and relatives may call at the T. L. Smith Funeral Home, Mattawa, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne's Church, Mattawa, on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.  Interment at the Parish Cemetery.  Donations to the Mattawa General Hospital Special Equipment Fund would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Marie Anne Pitre:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Friday, 27 September 1963:  Noelville - The death of Mrs. Josephat Guerin, of Noelville, occurred Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Ottawa.  She was 48, and had been in ill health for the past eight years.  Friends may pay their respects at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Noelville.  Requiem High Mass will be offered Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. David's Roman Catholic Church, and interment will be at the St. David Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements are in charge of Theoret Funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls.  Mrs. Guerin was the former Annette Pitre.  She was born at Embrun, Ont., in 1915, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon Pitre.  She had lived in Noelville for several years, where she attended St. David's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne.  She was married at Noelville, in 1937, to Josephat Guerin who survives.  Also surviving are four sons: Gabriel, of Ottawa; Herve, of Mattawa; Jacques and Pierre, both of Noelville, and four daughters: Miss Pauline Guerin, of Ottawa; Mrs. Allain Gaudet (Rachelle), of Ottawa, and Madeleine and Louise Guerin, both of Noelville.  She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon Pitre; two brothers: Rolland, of Mattawa, and Lionel, of Noelville, and four sister: Mrs. Ovide Lafreniere (Aurore), Mrs. Leopold Pitre (Yvonne), and Miss Ange-Aimee Pitre, all of Mattawa, and Miss Lucille Pitre, of Ottawa.

 

Estella Lauria Yvonne Prudente Pitre:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Saturday, 8 December 2012:  Pitre, Yvonne - (1917-2012) - died in Sudbury at the age of 95 years.  She was predeceased by her parents, Napoleon and Marie-Louise (Nee Hebert) Pitre, by her sisters and brothers, Lionel, Aurore, Willie, Annette, Roland, Lucille and Ange-Aimee, by her husband, Leopold Pitre and by her son, Charles Pitre.  Grieving her loss are her daughter, Francine Whitehead (John) and her grandson Jason Whitehead (Kirsten), her sisters-in-law, Lucille, Solange, Jeanne and Grace Pitre and many nieces and nephews.  All through her life, she fulfilled her many roles as daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt to the best of her abilities, always striving for perfection.  She was a woman with an exceptional talent for trades, specially woodworking, where again she did everything perfectly well.  She helped all her life, the family owes her a debt of gratitude.  A very special thank you to Doctor Paradis and her team and to the nursing staff in the surgical unit at Health Sciences North for their professional and compassionate care.  At Yvonne's request there will be no visitation or service.  Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.  Interment in the family plot in Ste. Anne's Cemetery in Mattawa.  Donations to Sick Kids Hospital (Toronto) would be greatly appreciated.  Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home.

Lucille Pitre:  Lucille Pitre passed away at Campus General of the Hospital of Ottawa 19 September 2008, at the age of 88 years.  She is survived by two sisters, Aurore Lafreniere of Mattawa and Yvonne Pitre of Sudbury as well as many nieces and nephews.  Lucille, a woman full of life and radiant with cheerfulness, will be missed by her sisters and her many nieces and nephews.  The religious service will take place in St. Ann church, Mattawa, Ontario Friday, 26 September 2008 at 1 p.m. For those who wish, donations to the Foundation for Heart Disease would be appreciated.

 

Ange Aime Pitre:  North Bay Nugget (North Bay, ONT), Thursday, 18 January 1979:  Ottawa - A native of Noelville, Ange-Aimee Pitre of 257 Lisgar St., died suddenly Wednesday morning at a hospital here.  She was 54.  Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ste. Anne's Church in Mattawa.  Spring interment will be at the parish cemetery.  Friends may call at the M. O. Edwards Funeral Home in Mattawa.  Miss Pitre, who attended Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa, was employed by the federal government's department of justice.  She was born May 14, 1924 at Noelville, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon Pitre.  Miss Pitre is survived by a brother, Roland of Mattawa; three sisters: Lucille of Ottawa; Mrs. Aurore Lafreniere and Mrs. Leopold Pitre (Yvonne), both of Mattawa.

- The Ottawa Citizen (Ottawa, ON), Monday, 29 January 1979:  Ange-Aimee Pitre.  Passed away suddenly in a local hospital, Wednesday, January 17, 1979.  Beloved sister of Lucille of Ottawa; Mme. Leopold Pitre (Yvonne), Mme. Aurore Lafreniere, brother Roland, all of Mattawa.  Interment at Mattawa Cemetery.
