Pitre of Berwick, tender on the railroad turn bridge over the Atchafalaya here, lost his life early today in an accidental fall from the bridge. His body, which fell on a concrete pier, was found with a fractured skull an hour later by his companion tender, Lindsey Fontenot. The bridge span had been turned for a boat to pass.

Marie Carrie 'Caroline' Pitre: Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), 26 March 1992: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux for Carrie Pitre Tardo, 88, a native and resident of Thibodaux, who died Wednesday. Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Thibodaux Funeral Home in Thibodaux. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She was the mother of Bobby and Nick Tardo, Patsy Theriot and Anita Rome. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic Tardo; sons, Dominic Jr. and Lester Tardo; and parents, Agatha and Arthur Pitre.
