Adelard Joseph Pitre:  PEI Co-operative Funeral Homes (East Prince):  Adelard Joseph Pitre: (photo) 'Saying goodbye to my love today.  Jesus came and took him away.  For 87 years he walked this land, for 62 years he held my hand".  It is with extreme sadness and copious tears in our eyes that we regret to announce the passing at his late residence in Summerside PE, on Wednesday October 28, 2020 of Adelard Joseph Pitre (b. May 17, 1933), formerly of St. Philippe, PE.  As a quiet and peaceful man he had an innate understanding of machinery of all kinds.  He was a Heavy Duty Mechanic who loved sharing his skills and knowledge instructing at multiple colleges in B. C. and NWT before returning back to PEI in 1995.  He had a very gentle strength, exuded kindness to everyone and had a profound love for his family, and a passion for music, woodworking and deep conversations about anything.  He taught us all by example that loving someone who hates you, is much better than returning hate.  He moved very slowly but had a very quick wit, which he kept right up to the end.  We gave him a musical send off with some of his favourite songs - for the first time in his life he wasn't able to play the harmonica.  We sang 'Bonsoir Mon Amour", "I come to the Garden", "I'll be All Smiles Tonight".  He took his last breath just as Mom finished singing the song he sang to her every night for years before going to sleep, "Bonne Nuit Ma Chérie".  Dad, we will miss you, always and we will continue to live our lives loving everyone, as by your example.  He was born in Colette, N.B. (Rogersville) to the late Albert & Elizabeth (Leblanc) Pitre.  Beloved husband of Yvonne (Cormier) Pitre and loving father of Mike (Christine) Calgary AB, Maurice (Jennifer) Port Moody, BC, Donna (David) Millar, St. Timothée PE, Claude (late Sharon), Red Deer AB and Jean-Guy (Dawne), Kingston ON. also lovingly remembered as "Pépé' by his 10 grandchildren: Jason Pitre, Elaine Howe, Danielle Schmuecker, Dori & Dominique Symbalisty, Tim, Andrew, Naomi, Michelle & Rachel Pitre.  As well as 4 great-grandchildren Wolfram & Anna Schmuecker, Payton Symbalisty and Ella Howe.  Survived by by his brothers Placide (Anna), Williams Lake BC, Emile (Delima) Shediac NB, sisters and brothers-in-law Zelia Pitre, Eva (Leo) Richard, Aline Leblanc (late Gerald), Marc (Doris) Cormier, Father Eddie, Albert, Yvon (Yvette) Cormier, Brenda Bernard, Cathy Cormier and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his loving daughter-in-law Sharon Pitre, brother & sisters Marguerite (Philias) Gautreau, Ben (Sarah) Peters, Fred (Sarah) Pitre, Baptiste (Evelyn) Peters, Marion (Edgar) Williams, Florida Pitre, Anita (Narcisse) Gautreau, Anne Campbell-Taylor (Jeb, Dean), Leo (Therese) Cormier Louis Cormier and his parents-in-law Glorice & Julitte Cormier.  Resting at East Prince Funeral home, 245 Pope Rd. Summerside PE.  A private family service is being held. And donations can be given to PEI Hospice Association.
