Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 20 September 1977:  Ville Platte - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church for Mrs. Clara F. Pitre, 88, who died at 4:20 a.m. today in the Ville Platte General Hospital, following a long illness.  Burial will be in the old Ville Platte Cemetery directed by Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte.  Survivors include two sons, Clarence Pitre of Ville Platte and Simon Pitre of Houston, Tex.; two stepsons, Eugee Pitre of Houston, Tex. and Arthur Pitre of Ville Platte; three daughters, Mrs. Loice Richard and Mrs. Edmay Richard, both of Ville Platte and Mrs. Elaine Unland of New Orleans; a brother, Clifton Fontenot of Ville Platte; a sister, Mrs. Louis O'Connor of Ville Platte; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Edgar Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 28 June 1987:  Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Church for Edgar Pitre, 89, of Ville Platte, with burial to follow in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery in Ville Platte.  Pitre died Saturday at 3:30 a.m. at Humana Hospital in Ville Platte after a brief illness.  Survivors include two brothers, Mr. Simon Pitre of Houston, Texas and Arthur Pitre of Ville Platte and two sisters, Mrs. Elaine Unlanda and Mrs. Edmay Fontenot of Ville Platte.  Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte is directing.

Arthur Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Sunday, 17 June 2001:  Funeral services will beheld for Arthur J. 'Ortere' Pitre, 95, of Ville Platte at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 2 p.m., today, June 17.  Burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.  Retired, Mr. Pitre died at 1:25 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home after a long illness.  Survivors include his daughter, Hazel Pitre Soileau of Ville Platte; one brother, Simon Pitre of Houston, Texas, one sister, Admay Richard of Ville Platte; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.

Armance Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 30 September 1985:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mrs. Loyce Richard, the former Hermence Pitre, 76, were to be held at 10 a.m. today in Our Lady Queen of All Saints Church here with burial in Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.  Mrs. Richard was a resident of New Orleans, formerly of Ville Platte.  She died at 11:55 a.m. Saturday in Ochsner Foundation Hospital of New Orleans after a short illness.  She is survived by five sons, Raphael, Hubert and Newton Richard, all of New Orleans, Sylvan Richard of Lafayette and Russell Richard of Port Barre; a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Mercedes) Paternostro of New Orleans; three brothers, Simon Pitre of Houston, Texas, Arthur Pitre and Edgar Pitre, both of Ville Platte; two sisters: Mrs. Edmay Richard of Ville Platte and Mrs. Mickle Unland of New Orleans; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Ardoin Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of arrangements.

Edmee 'Edmay' Pitre:  Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Friday, 30 September 2016:  Edmay Pitre Richard, May 10, 1911 - Sept. 28, 2016 - Ville Platte - Visitation for Edmay Pitre Richard, was held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Ardoin Funeral Home in Ville Platte.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Tom Voorhies officiating.  Burial followed in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.  Richard, a longtime resident of Ville Platte, passed away September 28, 2016 at the Maison de Lafayette at the age of 105.  Edmay Pitre Richard was born and raised in Ville Platte.  She and her family moved to New Orleans in the 1950s, where she worked for 25 years at West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company.  After retirement, they moved back to Ville Platte.  Richard is survived by her two daughters, Ethel Jane Fontenot and Mildred 'Millie' Dufrene; 10 grandchildren Cleveland, Catherine, Debra, Weldon, Donna, Connie, Wayne, Michelle, Billy, Andrea; and 10 great-grandchildren.  Richard was preceded in death by her husband, Hursey Richard, sons, Vernon and Austin James, and parents, Onezime and Clara Pitre.

 

Clarence J. Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday 26 October 1981:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mr. Clarence J. Pitre, 68, were to be held at 2 p.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church here with burial in the old Ville Platte cemetery.  Mr. Pitre died at 9:10 p.m. Saturday in the V.A. Hospital in Alexandria following a long illness.  His survivors include: two brothers, Simon Pitre of Houston, Texas and Arthur Pitre of Ville Platte; three sisters, Mrs. Edmay Richard of Ville Platte, Mrs. Elaine Unland and Mrs. Hermance Richard, both of New Orleans.  He was a veteran of WWII.  Ardoin Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of arrangements.

 

Elaine Pitre:  Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA), Saturday, 11 March 1989:  Elaine Pitre Unland, on Friday, March 10, 1989, at 4:30 a.m.; beloved wife of Michael J. Unland, sister of Edmay Fontenot, Simon Pitre, Arthur Pitre and the late Armance Richard, Edgar and Clarence Pitre, age 73 years; a native of Ville Platte, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son, Inc., on Saturday, March 11, 1989, at 10:45 o'clock a.m.  Interment in Garden of Memories.  A Parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.  Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday.
