Obituary: The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Sunday, 17 June 2001: Funeral services will be held for Arthur J. 'Ortere' Pitre, 95, of Ville Platte at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 2 p.m., today, June 17. Burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery. Retired, Mr. Pitre died at 1:25 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. Survivors include his daughter, Hazel Pitre Soileau of Ville Platte; one brother, Simon Pitre of Houston, Texas, one sister, Admay Richard of Ville Platte; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Fontenot died at 2 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2006, at Ville Platte Medical Center. Visiting hours were observed from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and will be observed from 8 a.m. today until time of services. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.

She was a presser and seamstress at Lee Vidrine and Isom Fontenot's Pressing Shop. She was also the owner and operator of the coffee shop in the Old Ville Platte Hospital. Survivors include one daughter, Hazel Pitre Fuselier Soileau of Ville Platte; one sister, Alice O. Guillory of Washington; four grandchildren, Frankie F. Clark, Sandra F. Ortego, Connie Mac Fuselier and Richard Troy Fuselier; 12 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert 'Tee Bet' Fontenot, and her great-grandson, Iram Jade Fuselier. Father Gene Tremie officiated. Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of arrangements.
