Obituary: The Courier (Houma, LA), Wednesday, 17 March 1993: (photo) Odelo Pierre Pitre Sr., 77, a native of Bourg and a resident of Houma, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1993. Visitation will be from 3 to 10 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 1 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Alice Marie Pitre; two sons, Irvin and Odelo Pitre Jr. of Houma; two stepsons, William Raymond Wallace of Monticello, Ark., and John Lynn Wallace of Houma; two daughters, Shirley Deroche and Earline Liner of Bourg; one sister, Augusta Thibodaux of Bourg; 13 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Blanchard Pitre; his parents, Gustave and Clementine Guillot Pitre; one brother, Ferdinand Rogers; and three sisters, Margaret Robichaux, Denise Ledet and Marie Thibodaux. He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a head custodian with Terrebonne Parish School Board.

Obituary: The Courier (Houma, LA), Sunday, 8 September 1985: Irene Blanchard Pitre, 67, a native and resident of Montegut and a resident of Houma, died at 12:40 p.m. Friday. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with interment following in the church cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Odelo Pitre Sr.; her father, Sidney Blanchard; two sons, Odelo Pitre Jr. of Sulpher and Irvin Joseph Pitre of Houma; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Deroche and Mrs. Jerry (Erlene) Liner Sr., both of Bourg; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Olivia Babin Blanchard; and two brothers, Billy and Roy Blanchard Sr. She was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Chauvin Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Irvin Joseph Pitre: The Courier (Houma, LA), Friday, 5 October 2018: Irvin Joseph Pitre, 79, lost his battle with cancer Oct. 4, 2018 surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held in his honor from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday, Oct. 6 at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Theriot. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Military honors will take place at 11 a.m. Irvin was a native of Louisiana who loved the outdoor life and being an avid fisherman. He was proud to have served as Private First Class in the National Guard, Company "C" 156th Infantry during the Korean War. Irvin was a loving man who was most proud of his family. He leaves behind and will be dearly missed by his wife, Mazie Naquin Pitre; his children, Barry Joseph Pitre, Dean Mark Pitre and Lisa Ann Pitre-Hauck. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and by his three siblings, Shirley Deroche, Earline Liner and Odelo Pitre Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odelo Pitre Sr. and Irene Blanchard Pitre; and infant child, Dwayne Mark Pitre. Samart Funeral Home, West Park is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nelia Anderson Pitre; sons, Odelo "Pete" Pitre III (Paula), James Pitre; daughter Theresa Pitre Lebouef (Benny); chosen children: Retta "Christy" Anderson, Angie Scott, and Rachel Holland (Chas); sisters, Shirley Deroche and Earline Liner (Jerry); sister-in-law, Mazie Pitre; father-in–law, James Walton Anderson; brother-in-law, Jack Anderson; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 6 bonus grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Odelo Pierre Pitre, Sr and Irene Blanchard Pitre; mother in Law, Mary Evelyn Anderson; and brother; Irvin Pitre. He served in the United States Navy from 1965-1967, where he had served on the SS Boxer, was a member of the United Veterans League, and an active member of the Marine Corps League. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and friend who loved to cook and feed people. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
