MISC:  The Ottawa Citizen (Ottawa, ONT), Saturday, 25 October 1947:  Fire Forces 13 to Vacate Homes Temporarily - Fire in a Lower Town apartment building at seven o'clock last night, temporarily forced 13 persons to vacate their dwellings.  Damage, estimated at $3,000, resulted to one of the four apartments in the building before firemen brought the blaze under control.  The apartment dwelling is located at 49 1/2 Clarence street.  Forced to vacate by the flames were Marty Cray, Mary Haight, Rebecca Houle, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Regalbuto and three children, Grant, 3 years, Fay 2 years, and Brian, 8 months; the Misses Aline and Rhea Pitre and their brother, Rene.

 

Obituary:  The Ottawa Citizen (Ottawa, ONT), Wednesday, 26 August 1931:  Ovide Pitre, a constable in the R.C.M.P. for the past seventeen years, died at a local hospital yesterday following an illness of six months' duration.  Constable Pitre was attached to "A" Division and was stationed in Ottawa from the time he joined the force.  Born at Casselman 48 years ago, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ovide Pitre, the deceased had been a resident of Eastview for twenty-five years.  He was an attendant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic church, Eastview.  Constable Pitre was twice married, his first wife, Mrs. Clara Spenard, predeceasing him four years ago.  Surviving are his second wife, formerly Miss Germaine Bourque; three daughters, Irene, Rhea and Aline Pitre; two sons, Lucien and Rene Pitre; one step-son, E. Spenard, all of Eastview; one brother, Paul Pitre of Ottawa, and two sisters, Mrs. George Levine of Ottawa and Mrs. Donald McGillivray of Eastview.  The funeral, which is being held from the family residence, 74 Main street, Eastview, on Friday morning at 8:45 o'clock, to Notre Dame de Lourdes church for mass at 9 o'clock, will be semi-military.  Officers of "A" Division will supply the gun carriage and firing squad.  Interment will be in Notre Dame cemetery.

- The Ottawa Journal:  At a local hospital, on August 25, 1931, Ovide Pitre, R.C.M.P., beloved husband of Germaine Bourque, at the age of 48 years.  Funeral Friday, August 28, at 8:45 a.m., from his late residence, 74 Main street, Eastview.  Service at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church at 9 a.m. thence to Notre Dame cemetery, Ottawa.

 

Obituaries for the children:

Marie Clara Irene Pitre:  La Presse (QUE), 16 June 2005:  Pitre, Sister Irene (Claire) in religion (Sr. Claire of the Blessed Sacrament) of the Congregation of the Daughters of Wisdom, died on June 14, 2005, at the age of 88 years, including 67 years of religious life.  She was the daughter of the late Ovide Pitre and the late Clara Goneau.  She is survived by a sister Aline Pitre, nieces and nephews.  The mortal remains will lie in state at the Maison Accueil-Sagesse, Ottawa from 1 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2005.  Funeral Mass will be held in the chapel of the House Saturday 18 June 2005 at 10:30 a.m.  Funeral direction is entrusted to Maison Racine, Robert & Gauthier.

 

Rhea Pitre:  Pitre - Miss Rhea, passed away 21 August 2000, at the age of 81 years.  She is survived by her sisters: Sister Irene Pitre, f.d.l.s., and Aline Pitre.  She was predeceased by 3 brothers: Lucien and Rene Pitre and Elzear Spenard.  She is survived by many nephews and nieces.  There will be no visitation at the funeral salon.  A commemorative mass will be celebrated Saturday 26 August 2000, in the church Notre Dame de Lourdes of Vanier, Montreal, at 11 a.m.  Funeral direction has been entrusted to Masion Funeraire Racine, Robert et Gauthier.  Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Diabetes Foundation for eart disease would be appreciated.

 

Aline Pitre:  Aline Pitre died Tuesday, 6 November 2007, at the age of 86 years.  She was the daughter of the late Ovide Pitre and the late Clara Goneau.  She is survived by several nephews, nieces and their families.  She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Elzear Spenard, Sister Claire (Irene) Pitre, Rhea Pitre, Lucien Pitre and Rene Pitre.  There will be no visits to the salon.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 12, 2007, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home, Ottawa.  Donations in memory of Aline may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

 

Lucien Elzear Pitre:  The Ottawa Citizen (Ottawa, ONT), Tuesday, 12 February 1991:  (photo) Pitre, Lucien Elzear - (Retired Staff Sergeant, House of Commons Security).  At his residence on Sunday, February 10, 1991, age 67 years, Lucien Pitre, of Vanier, Beloved husband of Rita Demers.  Dear father of Suzanne, Louise, Raymond (Jo-Anne Houle), Michelle, Marc (Denise Lefebvre) and Guy (Sylvie Hamel).  Brother of Irene (Sister Claire, Daughters of Wisdom), Rhea and Aline.  Also survived by 9 grandchildren.  Predeceased by 1 daughter, Claire and 2 brothers, Elzear and Rene.  A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 16, 1991, in Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Vanier, at 11 a.m.  Donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

 

Rene Pitre:  The Ottawa Citizen (Ottawa, ONT), Thursday, 22 June 1989:  Pitre, Rene - In hospital on Wednesday, June 21, 1989, at the age of 62 years, Rene Pitre, husband of Gisele Duquette, father of Bernard (Nicole Savard) of Calgary; Francine (Francois Tremblay) of Montreal, Pierre (Lucie Pineau) of Ottawa.  Grandfather of Micheline and Emmanuel.  Brother of Sister Irene Pitre, FDLS, of Montreal; Rhea Pitre, Aline Pitre of Ottawa; Lucien (Rita Demers) of Vanier.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Mass, Saturday, June 24, at Notre Dame du St. Esprit Church at 11 a.m.  Cremation Beechwood crematorium.  Donations to the Kidney Foundation appreciated.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to Racine, Robert and Gauthier Funeral Home.
