Obituary:  Thibodaux Comet (LA), Monday, 1 July 1985:  Religious services were scheduled for 10 a.m. today from St. Mary Catholic Church for Nolan Simon Pitre, 73, a native and resident of Raceland, who died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday (29th June).  He is survived by his wife, Edla Babin Pitre; three sons, Hilton J., Murphy P. and Ray A. Pitre; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Peggy) Boudreaux and Jeanelle P. Griffin; two brothers, Dewey and Malvin Pitre; two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Ethel) Foret Jr. and Mrs. Jessie (Rena) LeBlanc; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Pitre; and one sister, Theodule (Viola) Pertuit.  Interment was to be in St. Mary Cemetery.  Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.

Obituary:  Edla Babin Pitre, age 93, a native and resident of Raceland, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004.  Visitation to funeral time today at St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland; mass at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.  Survived by three sons, Hilton J., Murphy P. and Ray A. Pitre; two daughters, Jeanelle P. Griffin and Peggy P. Boudreaux; two brothers, Joseph C. and Joyle Babin; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her husband Nolan S. Pitre; her parents, Clovis J. Sr. and Florentine Robichaux Babin; six brothers, Nicholas, Gillis, Clovis Jr., Dalmas, Nead and Buster Babin; two sisters Laura B. Guidry and Vesta B. Richard; two grandchildren, Chad Boudreaux and Michael C. Griffin.  Parishioner of St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church.

Murphy Paul Pitre:  February 21, 1933 - August 4, 2018. -  Murphy P. Pitre, 85, a native and resident of Raceland, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018.  Visitation will be from 8:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Raceland, LA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela D. Pitre; son, Michael P. Pitre (Becky); daughters, Janet P. Hebert (Keith), Connie P. Bourgeois (Dwayne), Samantha M. Allemand (Cedric), Sabrina M. Lassere, Nicole A. Martin; daughter-in-law, Sherri Pitre; brothers, Hilton J. “Boy” Pitre, Ray A. Pitre; sister, Peggy P. Boudreaux; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 2 favorite nieces who know who they are.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan and Edla Babin Pitre; sons, David A. Pitre and Edward C. Pitre; granddaughter, Megan Hoak and sister, Jeanelle P. Griffin.  Murphy retired from Chevron and was the owner of Aqua Resources and M. P. Bookkeeping.  He was a Korean War Veteran who was an active member of American Legion Post 349 for 65 years, where he served as the Finance Officer.  He was also a member of Raceland Grand Marshall Club, Raceland Lion’s Club, Crippled Children Society and United Veterans League.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Raceland American Legion Post 349.  Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Jeanelle Pitre:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, November 23, 2015 at St. Mary's Nativity Church in Raceland for Jeanelle Pitre Griffin, 73, who passed away on November 18, 2015.  Reverend Charles Perkins, Pastor, will be the Celebrant of the Mass. Co-celebrant will be Reverend Donald Ledet.  Burial will take place in St. Mary's Nativity Mausoleum in Raceland.  Jeanelle, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Nolan Pitre and the former Edla Babin.  She was born on November 16, 1942 affectionately known as Maw Nel by her beloved grandson, Griffin and many of his friends and Aunt Nel by her nieces and nephews.  Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lanette Hebert; son-in-law, Charles; grandson, Griffin; three brothers, Hilton (Boy) Pitre and his wife, Audrey, Murphy Pitre and his wife, Pam and Ray Pitre; one sister, Peggy Boudreaux and her husband, Edward (Pookie); sister-in-law, Nazy LeBouef and her husband, Lee.  Brothers-in-law, Roy Griffin and his wife, Deanna; Roland Griffin and his wife Diane; Lester Griffin and his wife, Mona as well as many nieces and nephews.  She touched many lives with her kindness and caring nature.  Ms. Griffin was a retired librarian with the Lafourche Parish School Board.  She also volunteered with 4-H program, St. Mary's Nativity, Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and other charitable organizations.  She enjoyed sewing and sharing this talent with family, friends and several charities.  She found great joy in visiting with friends and family.  Preceded in death are her parents; husband, Hubert Griffin; son, Michael; sister-in-laws, Kathleen Pitre and Geraldine Pitre.  She was also preceded in death by in-laws, Abel and Judith Griffin.
