Obituary: The Reporter Dispatch (White Plains, NY), Wednesday, 21 February 1951: Armonk - Edmond J. Petre, sixty-two, of Annadale Street, widely known Westchester county contractor and builder and proprietor of the Armonk Woodcraft Shop, Main Street, died unexpectedly last night in a private ambulance en route to Grasslands Hospital. Mr. Petre had lived in White Plains before moving here 11 years ago. He was, according to members of his family, the builder of the first house in the Fox Meadow section of Scarsdale. Mr. Petre constructed many homes in that development and the Gedney Farm section of White Plains. He also had constructed commercial buildings in New York. Born Aug. 28, 1888, at Beresford, New Brunswick, Canada, he came to White Plains in 1922. He was the son of the late Joseph and Helen Ducette Petre. His marriage to the former Kathleen Murphy, who survives, took place Feb. 17, 1916 in St. Patrick's Cathedral, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Joseph, Allan and Edward Petre, all of the home address; three daughters, Mrs. C. Lindsay McLaughlin of 10 Lawrence Drive, Edgebrook Estates, Greenburgh, Mrs. Thomas Sodaro of Santa Monica, Calif., and Miss Christina Petre of San Francisco, Calif., and one grandson, also a sister and five brothers, all of Canada.

Obituary: The Reporter Dispatch (White Plains, NY), Wednesday, 8 August 1956: Mount Kisco - Mrs. Mary Kathleen Petre of Annadale Road, Armonk, died yesterday in Northern Westchester Hospital. She had been ill six weeks. Mrs. Petre was the widow of Edmond J. Petre, a building contractor who died Feb. 20, 1951. She was fifty-seven. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Mrs. Petre had lived in Armonk 15 years, and before that in White Plains for 15 years. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church, Armonk, and a member of the Armonk Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post No. 1097. Mrs. Petre leaves three daughters, Mrs. C. Lindsay McLaughlin of Mount Kisco, Mrs. Thomas Sodaro of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Herbert Diamante of Berkeley, Calif.; three sons, Joseph E. Petre of Armonk, Allan B. and Edward V. Petre who are serving with the U.S. Army in Germany; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Francis Henrion of Armonk and Mrs. Leone Petre of White Plains, and three brothers, Maxwell Murphy of White Plains, and Allan and Frederick Murphy of Nova Scotia.

Beloved father of Stephen Petre and Barbara Petre Gross. Also survived by six grandchildren. Friends may call at the Oelker & Cox Funeral Home, Mt. Kisco, NY on Sunday from 6 to 9 PM. Allan B. Petre: The Journal News (White Plains, NY), Sunday, 22 December 2002: Petre, Allan B., Sr. Allen B. 'Moe' Petre, Sr. of Southeast passed away on December 19, 2002. He was 66. Allan was born August 28, 1936 in White Plains to Edmond J. Petre and Kathleen Mary Murphy. Allan was raised in Armonk, NY and attended the Armonk school system. Allan served as a Paratrooper in the US Army from 1955 to 1957 in Germany. He was the owner and proprietor of Petre Motor Sales and Petre Auto Body in Bedford Hills. He also worked on the Alaska Pipeline and, until his death, was a member of the Teamstsers Local 812, working for Coca-Cola in Elmsford, NY. Allan was a pioneer of 'extreme sports'. He was a charter member of the Willow Inn Skydiving and Ski Club and a member of the American Motorcycle Association where he competed in motocross during the '60's and '70's and held the #1 plate for seven years in the Eastern Conference. He was a private pilot with commercial privileges. Allan was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed playing guitar, banjo and the bagpipes. At times he still could be found riding his Harley-Davidson. He was also a charter member of the Sons of Norway-Trollheiman in Croton Falls. Allan is survived by his children Kacey Petre of Bedford Hills, Jon Petre of Brewster and their mother Judy Petre of Bedford Hills; his sons, Allan, Jr., Bobby and Danny, all of Purdys; and his grandson William Petre of New York City. He is also survived by his brothers: Joseph Petre and his wife Kathleen and Edmond Petre and his wife Waltraud, all of Armonk. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews and had a special friendship with his nephew Manfred Petre of Somers, who shared his love of outdoor sports. He is predeceased by his sisters: Johnie Maclaughin, Margie Sadero and Teenie, as well as his parents. Visitation Sunday and Monday, 7-9 PM at The Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home, Mt. Kisco, NY. Services Tuesday, 10 AM. Cremation will follow at Ferncliff. Interment of ashes to be at a later date.
